Alaska Airlines (and Horizon Air)'s Pet Travel Policy
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates air transportation of pets and all airlines are required by law to follow the guidelines outlined on our Air Travel Regulations for Pets page. Individual airlines may impose further restrictions or fees for flying with your pet. Alaska Airlines (and Horizon Air)'s pet policy is described below.

Pets in the Cabin:
One small pet total may travel in the first class cabin and up to five small pets total may travel in the coach cabin. Reservations for animals traveling in the passenger cabin must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Your pet's carrier must be small enough to fit under the seat (17" x 12" x 7 ½") and provide enough space for the animal to turn around and lie comfortably. Your dog must stay in his carrier at all times while onboard, and be stowed under the seat during takeoff and landing. Animals with offensive odors or those that create a noise disturbance must travel in the baggage compartment.
The charge is $75 USD per pet plus applicable taxes for one-way travel in the passenger cabin.
Pets Checked with Baggage:
Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air accept most small domesticated pets in the baggage compartment. When your pet travels as baggage, you must travel on the same flight to your pet's destination and check in at least one hour, but no more than two hours before departure. If your trip includes a transfer to another airline, you must allow time to pick up your animal in the baggage claim area and re-check it with the connecting airline. Due to health risks, short-nosed dogs are only accepted for travel at your own risk and excess valuation is not available.
