United Airlines's Pet Travel Policy
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates air transportation of pets and all airlines are required by law to follow the guidelines outlined on our Air Travel Regulations for Pets page. Individual airlines may impose further restrictions or fees for flying with your pet. United Airlines's pet policy is described below.

Pets in the Cabin:
Your dog can travel in the cabin with you on United, as long as you make arrangements in advance. Your dog must be small enough to fit and stay comfortably in a carrier under the seat. The maximum dimensions of the carrier are 22"x14"x9".
The fee for bringing your pet onboard is $80 each way for domestic travel.
Pets Checked with Baggage:
If you make arrangements in advance, your dog or cat can ride in the pressurized and heated cargo compartment of the aircraft you are ticketed on. Pets traveling as checked baggage will be accepted at the airport check-in counter and delivered to the baggage claim area at your final destination. For the safety of your animal, United Airlines does not accept short-nosed dog breeds as either checked baggage or cargo from June 1 - September 30.
The charge for checking your dog is $100 for small/medium size kennels and $200 for intermediate to extra large kennels for domestic one way travel.
