Westjet's Pet Travel Policy
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates air transportation of pets and all airlines are required by law to follow the guidelines outlined on our Air Travel Regulations for Pets page. Individual airlines may impose further restrictions or fees for flying with your pet. Westjet's pet policy is described below.

Pets in the Cabin:
WestJet welcomes pets in the cabin on domestic and transborder flights and asks that you make arrangements for your pet in advance. You dog must be able to fit in a carrier with the maximum dimensions of 17.5"x16"x8.5", so that it can be stowed under the seat in front of you. Carriers brought onboard the aircraft can weigh up to 22 lbs, including the animal and kennel combined. Soft-sided carriers designed for airline travel are accepted in the cabin, but duffle bags, gym bags and other non-kennels cannot be accepted. Your pet must remain in the carrier beneath the seat at all times during the flight.
A service fee of $40 (each way) will be charged for your pet's transport in the cabin.
Pets Checked with Baggage:
Your dog will be accepted for carriage in checked luggage provided the kennel is approved by WestJet. A maximum of three kennels in checked luggage per flight will be accepted. Kennels in checked luggage can weigh up to 100 lbs, including the animal and kennel combined. The maximum dimensions permitted for checked kennels are: 21"x16"x15" for small dogs, 32"x22"x23" for medium dogs, and 36"x24"x26" for large dogs. Guests taking a pet from the United States to Canada, or from Canada to the United States, are responsible for meeting customs entrance requirements for their animal.
For safety reasons, WestJet is unable to accept any animal in checked luggage from December 19 to January 6 on both domestic and transborder flights. WestJet is unable to accept animals in checked luggage on flights to Phoenix and Palm Springs at any time of the year because the temperatures at these destinations generally exceed recommended safe temperatures for transporting animals. From May 1 to September 30 of each year, WestJet is unable to accept animals in checked luggage on any flight to or from Tampa, Orlando, or Fort Lauderdale, again due to possibilities of extreme temperatures.
A service fee of $40 (each way) will be charged for each kennel you check in the baggage compartment.
