Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram

Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram in Olympic Valley, CA, is dog friendly during the off-season. When ski season comes to an end, grab your pooch and head to the aerial tram for a beautiful 10-minute ride. There is a charge to ride up the mountain but, if you hike up to high camp (elevation 8200 ft) with Fido, the tram will give you both a ride down for free. The best way to hike up is the Shirley Lake Trail. It's a 3-hour hike with a rest stop at the popular dog-friendly swimming hole, Shirley Lake. The restaurant at the top of the tram also welcomes Fido at the outdoor tables. Visit Website

    Clueless people

Just called Palisades Tahoe to confirm whether they allow dogs on the aerial tramway. the person I spoke with was not aware of such policy even though it’s clearly stated on their website. She suggested we don’t come with a dog and when I quoted the website she just said she had no clue but would advise against it and that the website is probably incorrect. Furthermore the site allows bookings for the tram on Thanksgiving day but she said they are closed on Thanksgiving. Complete chaos and lack of common courtesy to clients.

    Not open Until Thanksgiving

Tried to take my dog here opening weekend and the tram was closed until thanksgiving. This is not year round attraction.

    Awesome Adventure

Not only was the gondola pet friendly but most of the businesses were as well. You had to eat outside on the patio with your pet but we expected as much. ALL of the staff from the ticket booth to the restaurant wait staff were all welcoming and friendly. The views are breath taking and what a beautiful way to spend your vacation. If you go to the restaurant make sure you say hi to Amber, she's a great waitress and loves pets.

    Breathtaking views

The tram itself can be a little crowded depending on the time of day that you go. The tram ride takes just a few minutes to climb up 2,000 feet to the what they call, High Camp. Once you reach High Camp, you have breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe. I could only imagine how it would look in the winter. There were a few restaurants up there, but I'm not sure if any of them were pet friendly. I'm sure there are things that you can grab and eat on the veranda at right outside of the tram area.
