    A Rarity in this Area

This is a S.B. City Park and the official policy is dogs welcome on leash, but the unspoken rule seems to be off-leash OK -- a rarity in this neck of the woods. It is set in the foothills and surrounding homes with many oaks and eucalyptus trees and fenced in on most sides. My dog definitely had a good time here and we came across several other dogs that also seemed to be enjoying themselves! It was a little bit difficult to find at first. There is parking on the dirt shoulder and an entrance at the intersection of Camino Viejo Rd. and El Rancho Rd., near the poop bag dispenser and trash can. A short, easy-to-see loop dirt trail runs for less than a mile round trip. It gets hilly and steep near the top, so it's advisable to wear good walking or hiking shores. At the top, there's a bench with a view out to the ocean on a clear day. No restrooms or water available and watch out for poison oak!
