    This Park is now Closed

The dog off-leash area has been closed by Jefferson County and there is a $100 fine for violating the closure. Be forewarned. You can still hike with your dog (on-leash) on the other side of the park.

Do not let JeffCo Close our dog park! PROTEST 2/23/17

DO NOT LET JEFFCO CLOSE OUR PARK! Please come show your support at our Rally to force JeffCo Open Space to keep our Evergreen Dog Park open.
Come with your well-behaved dogs and civil protest Signs next Thursday (2/23/17) at 5pm in front of the Buchanan Recreation Center, just before JeffCo's meeting to describe their pre-decided park closure plans.
When JeffCo Open space asked for community feedback, it quickly became clear we had been deceived by the very public servants who never implemented the public safety and resource management best practices already in place at dog parks across the Nation, including at Chatfield Dog Park.
Join your fellow Dog Park lovers this upcoming Thursday at 5pm and demand JeffCo Open Space reverse their closure decision, listen to dog park stakeholders and finally do their job managing the park to make it safe for dogs and their owners. JeffCo Open space wants to place ALL the blame on the Community, which denies their ongoing negligence and mismanagement.
Over 180 ideas were presented to JeffCo at the past two meetings, but they fell on deaf ears. There are solutions, many of them easy and immediate, and all are far less drastic than closing our community treasure.
Closing our dog park is NOT an option. JeffCo let this problem happen, ignoring obvious remedies and best practices, and then had the audacity to ask for community input to solve the issues, only to completely ignore us, waste our time and now force the dog park's imminent closure down our throats.

    Gorgeous Trails

This is my absolute favorite Place to take my dog off-leash! It's directly across from the Elk Meadow Open a Space trailhead. Several miles of trails cross crossed by a creek and surrounded by pine forests and areas of rocky terrain. There is also an awesome fenced area for those unsure pups. As well as an open field for fetch play. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!

    Wonderful Afternoon with Pup

We had an absolute blast at the off leash area of Elk Meadow Park! Our pup loved meeting other friendly dogs along the trails and we enjoyed the nice maintained trails and gorgeous scenery! Will definitely start visiting this park more often!!! I do suggest you google the park to get the correct address. The one that shows up on the map is not where the park is. It is actually in Evergreen, CO.

    Love it!

I love this park. It is always clean. There is a creek at the bottom that my dogs love to play in! There is a fence that protect them from the road. The trails go through wooded, and slightly open areas. There are multiple dog sections. One section back side does not have a fence, but I believe there are two fully enclosed sections. I just haven't been in them. I am off during the week, so I go mid morning. The park always has just the right amount of dogs to play with. I do believe the weekend get crazy crowded.

    Awesome!!!

We brought our puppy for his first dog park trip and he loved it!!! The park is breath taking! Has got to be the best in the state!!! Great loop to walk but we ended up just sitting on a log enjoying the sun and watching our pup tear around the park. Granted it was only one day but every owner there seemed to be super respectful and good dog owners!

Room to run and have fun!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this park! Our dogs have a blast at this mountain park. It's worth the drive up from Denver, to give them a few hours of play in the fresh mountain air. We also enjoy sitting on the benches or rocks and listening to the hummingbirds zoom overhead. Elk herds wander on the numerous nearby trails, and a small creek borders the fenced-in dog area. This is a great area to see the aspen change color in the fall too.
Note: Be careful if you park across the street - PLEASE keep your dogs on a leash until INSIDE the fence. People speed down the roadway, and I've seen more than one dog get hit because it was off lead and running across the road. Also, please bring dog poop bags with you to the park and USE THEM! Noone likes a poopy smelling dog park. :)
