A Great Park for Real Dogs

If you have a foo foo dog that fits in your purse this might not be the park for you. I have two sweet, lovable German Shepherds that love to swim, run, and play and this park is great for them. If I find there have been dog people that have been lazy and not cleaned up after their dogs I just pay it forward and clean it up. My dogs love it here and I'm grateful for a place they can run and play. (ever been to San Francisco?} Thanks Boise for being dog friendly. 28 June 2020

    Nice fenced in park

My dogs enjoy their time here. They did not seem to be bothered by the wood chips. The park even had a shovel to go clean up the dog mess afterwards! I have been to many dog parks across the nation and this one is one of the nicer parks. Some people just set standards too high for being free.

    wonderful!

We loved this park! The whole park is beautiful, the dog park isn't much to look at but its big and there is a picnic table in the shade. This is the 6th dog park we've gone to on our trip from NM to OR. There were lots of dogs to play with and the pet parents were very friendly. Had some good conversation. There are bowls for water and a fountain and the park is well kept!

    Great Park for pups

The people below must be the type that put their little Pomeranian in their froofy purse with pink clothes and bows on its poor sad head. So the park has bark.. they are dogs, it's ok. They don't care. They are happy to run. Pads protect dogs from the small splinters.. and if they get a big one.. they can also get those on any hike in the foothills, or sharp pebbles on a trail. I'm grateful to Boise for providing a fenced dog park at all, grass or bark. We unfortunately do not have one in Eagle, and this is a great alternative, to driving clear to the Nampa dog park. My pups love this park, get great socialization, and exercise. The people are friendly, and overall responsible for their dogs that get in a tussle, or poop in the park. Every park is going to have its negligent person show up who doesn't clean up after their dog. If you are the complaining person below.. if you see that happen, why don't you go pick up the dog poop yourself. We are all dog owners, and used to doing that after all, and can help maintain what has been provided for us.
    This is a great park.

Not Sure How Old These Reviews Are

03/25/2015 I was hesitant to take my dog here because of previous reviews, but with it being only 5 minutes from my house I thought I'd give it a try. I'm not sure how long ago these were written but I thought this was a wonderful place.

Yes it's completely covered in bark, which may seem gross or weird, but didn't we all have bark in our school playgrounds that we played in? The dogs don't mind it at all and there is plenty of room for them to run and romp.

There were probably 20 dogs there when I went during a weekday evening and all of the owners were welcoming, friendly and just over all wonderful. They knew each other's dogs names and joked about who was best friends with who. It was clean and volunteers had brought dog bowls and gallon jugs of fresh water since the drinking fountains haven't been turned on yet.

I am sad that perhaps this place wasn't well cared for in the past, and has such bad reviews because of that. But from my recent experience it was perfect for my over active boxer puppy. This will become a weekly, if not daily visit for us now that the weather is turning nice. He had a big dopey boxer grin on his face the entire time and loved playing with all of the dog breeds.

Side note: if you do have a smaller dog that doesn't like or is intimidated by large dog, this may not be the place for you. There were several huskies, labs, and mastiffs to name a few breeds that definitely love to play hard and run fast.

    ugh.

Go to the Nampa dog park. Unbelievably better. I was disgusted by this park. Yes, shame on Boise on how they treat their canine citizens.

    Boise should be ashamed

Tis is a disgusting place! Rather than grass this park has large chunks of wood chips which have left splinters in my dog's paws. Not much in the way of shade, either. What others have said about dog fights and poop is also true. Perhaps Boise is not ready for a fenced in dog park.

    This place is disgusting!

I guess the pet-owners that take their pets here think because their pet can run free they don't have to clean up after them. I took my dog one morning this winter and we could hardly move without running into other pets poop! Will never go again. . .who knows what diseases roam in that disgusting poop covered bark!

    Dog Fight Club

I have been to this park numerous times with my dog, at first it was the only park I knew about and I used to drive across town to visit, after this weekend I will never take my dog there again, 30 dogs all running wild, with un-neutered male pit bulls attacking all the breeds, Dog owners on ipads and reading books while their dogs take big dumps in the bark and they don't clean up. No wonder the week before the police were called to stop an argument between owners. I want my dog to be socialized but not there.

    Love this place

So what if the ground is covered in bark? If this place wasn't here, my dog would go nuts. He's a high energy breed living in an apartment without a yard- we take him here several times a week to socialize and run off some of that puppy energy. You see the same dogs and people time and time again, and for the most part, everyone is friendly and watches after their dogs. I'm very thankful this dog park is here.
