    Shady with large trees

This was one of my favorite places to bring my little dogs, but unfortunately, an irresponsible owner watched as his huge dog attack mine. I watched in horror as the dog had my little ones neck in his mouth. My husband carefully intervened, and got my dog out of the situation. I was slowly trying to introduce him into being other dogs, and to not be fearful. Sadly, that backfired on me.
Other than that , it’s a great little park with lots of large shade trees, picnic, benches, and a water source.

    Nicely shaded dog area

The park is nicely located, large enough, and very well shaded for the hot Florida sun days. The "floor" of the park is mulch, bark chips and sand. Nice park.

We Loved It Until We Were Rudely Judged

my pup is 2 y/o incredibly social and excitable so dog parks are an absolute blast for him. we had a great time the first couple of times we went here. the park itself is fine, nothing special but there is a lot of shade and plenty of room for them to play so they all seem to love it. most everyone I met was really friendly. if you're a woman there alone and ever have the displeasure of meeting the “self-proclaimed mayor” of the dog park you probably won’t want to go back, he was incredibly sexist and condescending to me.

he came over to “de-escalate” an argument I got in with a guy whose German Shepard got aggressive at my American Bulldog mix. my sweet boy doesn’t always understand body language and is so excited to play with every dog he sees so he was running around trying to play and the GSD got a little frustrated and snarled at him. I totally understand that not every dog gets along and was ready to just separate them and continue with the day but the owner of that dog got in a big tizzy over it and started yelling to which I walked over calmly to grab my dog who was cowering in a defensive position with the GSD angrily over him. this man continued to yell at me about how my dog was territorial and aggressive and that we shouldn’t be there to which I got angry. I said that my dog didn’t have an issue for the hour that we’d been there until his dog showed up so maybe his dog is the issue, my dog is not territorial and was not being aggressive. to which he huffed out angrily and saw that the “mayor” had just pulled up so he went to complain to him. the “mayor” came over to me and without asking anything about my opinion on what happened started to give me a lecture on how to handle my territorial dog and about handling a fight in the dog park. I tried to explain to him that my dog was not the aggressor and is not aggressive in nature to which he didn’t want to listen so I got more aggravated. when I told him not to talk down to me or tell me how to handle my dog when he never even saw the situation he got frustrated at me and told me he would call the police if I ever came back.

this was a few months ago and honestly, I am still nervous to try and go back because I don’t want to be verbally assaulted again for letting my “aggressive” dog run and play. anyway, the point of my story is that if you are a woman alone and/or have a pittie looking breed don’t expect fair treatment at this park. if you have a cuddly-looking breed you’ll probably be just fine and your dog will be allowed to be a dog.

    Short Fence

Big area for big dogs and another area for small dogs. The fence in the big dog area was short. 3 feet at most. There were lots of dogs.

    Beautiful

We are visiting out of state from Iowa. The park has 2 areas for dogs to play and explore. Our dog loves the amount of space for catch.

    Nice Park

I'm visiting from NJ and I go to a couple dog parks at home. I thought this was a nice park. Dogs and people were friendly there is fresh water, a pool and bucket for the pups to drink out of. Its shaded which is great. Its not large but big enough for big dogs to run around. Just bring a towel because if they get wet they will get dirty.

Cool place to run off energy

Visiting area from out of town and my people saw this area and thought it would be fun. We do not have dog parks in our town, but we need one. Park was well shaded, had fresh water, and provided plenty of room for us to run around. I want one in my hometown!!

    great park

This is the best park in town. Yes it isn't huge and there's no grass, but it's cozy and shaded, and dogs are friendly as are people. I have a white boxer, whom I took there for the first time recently. We were spoiled by a fabulous park in Jacksonville that we used to go to, but realistically dogs are happy to play with other dogs, not about landscaping in the park where they do it. Lots of shade is great, since this is florida and it gets very hot. Owners that come here all the time adore the place. I can definitely see the charm. We are coming back here for more fun time!! If you're looking for s park with grass, city of St. Augustine doesn't have one yet. But nonetheless this is a great park to take your pup for some socializing and play time.

Only one large fenced in area, no separate areas for large dogs and small dogs. Also, like the reviewed stated above there is no grass, only mulch. The area has a ton of shade trees so it has potential, it's just not there yet.

    Would not recommend

Small, run-down, empty. No grass, only mulch. Would not recommend.
