    Nice Park

From Francis Street turn south onto Union and go to the end and turn right into the parking lot. Very large and clean. Sandy surface. This park is maintained by community volunteers. Park has a Hydrant and a port-a-John is nearby.

Lovely Fenced and large dog area!!!

Great park! We bring our own water and poop bags but I think they might have them too.

    We visit often

    Former local who now
Lives about 50 miles away. When we are in town at least once a week or more we stop in here to let him run around a play with other dogs. Usually there are quite a few others here but not always.

If you walk along the fence of the large dog side it’s about a quarter mile or so per lap.

Water hydrants for fresh water for dogs on both ends of the large dog side and one hydrant for the smaller dog side.

White PVC canisters along the whole fence that have grocery bags for owners to pick up waste and trash cans at both gates to dispose of it.

Large covered benches, picnic table, and some agility equipment are inside the dog park area. Lots of taller trees around To provide shade.

Grass as of now is maintained well. It was longer this spring but I suppose park workers finally got out to work on parks and knocked it all down in here and it’s on the regular rotation to work on now.

Again typically at least one other dog is here if not many more to play with for my dog. Seems to be most busy from 4:30pm-6:30pm during the week.

We Love Centennial Park and Waggin Tails

We stopped in North Platte for the night and found this amazing dog park and walking trail. Chase loved it and so did we. Large area for him to roam and then we walked the park trails. this is a great place on our travels!

    Park not maintained very well

We stopped here after driving in from Wyoming. The park was clean but appears overgrown with weeds. The agility equipment in the large dog play area is worn and wood is warped. We were the only ones there which seemed strange on a Friday evening. The surrounding park looks nice but dog park seems forgotten

Great, but a little hard to find

the park is great but the location tag was wrong for us. it took us to a retirement village. if you go past the retirement village, and keep going strain past all the fields (there will be a sign saying “no outlet”), you’ll get to the parking lot! definitely worth it! nice area and usually very quiet. we stopped while driving across the states

    Great Park, close to exit

We stopped here twice on a cross-country road trip. We had the whole place to ourselves both times. The whole park is covered in wood chips. “Covered” benches for humans and a lot of room for running around. We are thankful we found this park!

Great place for fido to unwind

Although it was hard to find ( dont let the gps directions fool you. It gets you close but pure determination got us the rest of the way) it is a great dog park. Lots of friendly locals and pets.

    Great Park!

Great dog park for travelers. Entrance on west end is next to small dog area, and large/all dog area is HUGE! Lots of bark on ground, which may have taken care of the stickers mentioned in an older review. Parking lot next to west entrance is large enough for an RV to turn around. There’s a second gate at the east end. Lots of shaded seating, including a picnic table.

directions should say pass the retirement home, then all ball fields and dog park is at very end.

    Close To I-80

Road trip from Denver to Minneapolis and this was our first stop (roughly 4hrs from Denver). It is somewhat tucked away, but with my GPS I didn’t have much trouble finding it (I used Google Maps). The size was really nice! We’re used to a very small park at our apartment complex and so the mass amount of space for my pup to run was great! We stayed for about an hour and met locals as well as others traveling for the holidays. Next time I stop I’ll probably bring my lunch to the park as it has benches and tables. Overall it’s a really great stop right after or before I-76 (which is pretty barren for good stops IMO).

    Off the beaten path

I always stop at this park when I am on a road trip with my dogs. It is tucked away in a corner and kind of hard to find. We always have a good experience here. It is large with lots of trees and benches. We always meet friendly dogs and people but it never seems crowded or intense. A good, quiet, interesting stop for the dogs.

    Three Locations indicated

There are three locations indicated for this park: 1) 301 W 18th St, North Platte, NE, which is the Northside Park at Cody Park; 2) the map shows a (non-existant) park north of A St. near Carr; 3) the actual Waggin' Tails is at Centennial Park south of W. Francis St.

    Sad experience

This dog park should be avoided for two reasons. First, irresponsible dog owners have done a poor job picking up after their pets. Secondly, it is so full of stickers that they can’t be avoided. It has taken hours to get them off our dog, who even had bleeding gums from trying to bite them out.

    Large park, but not well-maintained

Overall I thought this park was average (I've been to some incredible dog parks, which is why this one just received a 3/5).

Pros: Very large area, and great for dogs who like to run around or fetch toys long distance.

Cons: Very tall grass (not trimmed). I was unfamiliar to the area and not sure if there could be any creatures hiding in the tall grass that could hurt my dog, so we did not stay long. Also, the dirt trails are very narrow.

This park was suitable for my needs (just passing through on a cross-country move and needed to give my dog some exercise) but if I lived in the area I would be reluctant to visit again.

    Shady and room to run

This was a good dog park with water and space to run around and play. It was everything out dog needed. Thanks.

    Nice park, close to interstate.

Traveling across country and was delighted to find this little gem in the middle of Nebraska. The park isn't super well maintained, but it's nice enough. They have a kid pool with water to play inane a good open space to run. It's covered in bark shreds, weeds, dirt and a few trees, but if you're not picky it's a great find. People were nice, as well. I was informed the other dog park down the road was much nicer but not as close to the interstate. When I was doing my research I had read it wasn't open yet, but it apparently is. So there is another option if you're going through North Platte.
