Nice Beach but smash and grab crime is high!

we stopped here on your recommendation. we walked the beach and it was wonderful but came back to the parking lot and there had been a smash and grab robbery. someone saw it and reported it but honestly we weren’t there that long. there are signs everywhere coming into the beach parking that warn of this. crazy that it happened so quickly. we felt terrible for the victim but grateful our truck and camper didn’t get broken into. the view of the bridge is magnificent from the beach but I’m not sure I’d risk it again.

    Great location, chill dogs

Great location with generally well behaved dogs and decent parking options. Offers fantastic views of the GG Bridge while strolling along the beach.

    Terrible

Way too many dofg walkers who don't keep dogs under control or pick up poop. Larger dogs harass smaller dogs. Park Service is now stationing rangers and is ticketing. Last, like the rest of San Francisco, daily car break-ins in parking lots at Baker.

Great place to your furry legged family

I love taking my dogs to place and romp at Baker Beach and the surrounding area. It is also a terrific place for a per portrait session with the Golden Gate Bridge shinning in the background!

    so much fun

Great beach and super friendly people. My dog loved running with me up and down and the view of the golden gate doesn’t hurt either!

Parking was semi-easy, but I can see it getting busy as summer nears.

    Clothing optional

This beach was so fun. I got great photos of my dog with the bridge in the background, met great people, all dogs we met were well-mannered. Saw a nude man BUT another person on the beach I was talking with told me its clothing optional there, so, still 5 bones for me. Nude man didn't break any rules and my dog doesn't mind anyway.

    Worth the drive!

We're new to the area & wanted to try out a place where the whole family could have fun. Our dog wasn't sure of the sand at first but once we got down to the water, she was thrilled. Lovely beach, friendly people and the view is spectacular! Only problem, if your dog is new to the beach watch that they don't drink too much salt water.

    The great beach so far

This beach is amazing! my dogs had a great time, there is free parking and bathrooms, is better if you arrive before 12:00.

This is a wonderful place to take your dog! It wasn't over crowded and all dogs were well mannered. Plus, is a great place for a photo op.

    Who doesn't like the Beach?!

Great beach for both human and pooch! No fences so if you have a runner you might want to just take a light long lead instead of risking a lost dog. No close facilities. There is a great off the beach hiking trail that is nice.

Great beach but beware of nideist!!

I went to SF this past weekend with my dogs 4.13.14. I heard about this beach through this website. We arrived and everything was great, sand was nice, water was clean, families were enjoying the scene. However, me and my family wanted to get closer to the ST bridge so we can take a family picture. As we got closer we notice to nude men walking around and another sun bathing. I had a 10 year old with me and I'm sure he saw them. Because of them we had to leave the beach. Great place for pets just make sure you check your surroundings!

    the best

The best dog beach. My 2 Alaskan Malamutes LOVE this beach. Wish it wasn't so far to get to for us....but it is worth it.

    take responsibility for your dog

Baker Beach is one of the most beautiful places to walk your dog in the world. Only problem is, many visiting dog owners are so happy to be on the beach they forget to pick up "fido's" poop! Please leave Baker Beach as beautiful as you found it otherwise, dogs will be banned in the future and for good reason.
