    A beautiful, great hike

We did this hike today with our three kids (10, 8, & 5) and our 160 pound Mastiff. It was enjoyed by all! We ended up doing around 7 miles total. Shady and sunny, no person in sight the whole time. Tools us under 5 hours to do. Our dog loved it as well at the kids!

    Here are better directions

It was a really nice trail - but difficult to find for out-of-towners.
Better directions - Take Glen Haven co 80532 to CR-51B. Turn left and go 2.2 miles to the parking lot on Devil's Gulch Road.
    It's about 10 miles from Route 34.

    Open as of August 2016

A bit hard to find but it was worth it. The trail is nicely maintained with new bridges over the river. A great way to beat the crowds in Estes, get some quality time, and keep a hot dog cool.

    Trail Currently Closed

I attempted this trail today, but it is still closed from the floods in 2013. Bulwark Ridge trail is nearby, though, if you hike up the private road almost all the way to a camp entrance--you'll see the trailhead on the right. The Forest Service says that Bulwark is closed on their website, there were no ropes or signs up indicating closure.

    Great Trail

This trail is a favorite of the whole family. Its mostly flat except for the part that goes down and then back up from the parking lot to the river. Half of the trail runs along the river, then its a nice shaded path. The dog loves the water. If you have a dog there is a sign that tells you that you are at the entrace to RMNP, where no dogs are allowed. We have seen lots of wildlife, and its also great for horseback riding.
