  Great dog activity

  Our standard poodles loved this train ride. They were better behaved than usual with so much to do and see! So glad we did this tour!

  Awesome dog friendly trip

  I can say that my dog loved the trip when she got used to the concept of the train. She liked being outside on the open cars more than inside but all around. She had a great time. I highly recommend this dog friendly activity.

  Rail Bike Review

  This was a fun trip for us and our Great Pyrenees. She got to relax while we pedaled out to the turn-around point where we all had lunch and a short hike. The rail bike guides were fantastic - knowledgeable and very friendly to our large dog.

  Very Dog Friendly

  We thought this would be fun with the dogs. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating of the dogs and asked if we needed help in and out. I enjoyed the views and the commentary which was very educational. all and all a genre at trip. the cost is a bit high, but it an unusual experience you get to do with your dog. so, that being said, the dogs didn’t find it as fun as we did. the train is loud and vibrates (surprise surprise) so the pups were not that comfortable on the train. they pretty much wanted to leave a few minutes in, but they can’t. they did settle in and accept the trip, but I can’t say they enjoyed it. we had planned to stay and hike around Glen Junction but it rained and we didn’t want to be stuck for 2 hours on the rain waiting for the next train. I do recommend it, but also say that your pups may not find it as nice as you.

  Nice Trip With Forest Hike

  This is a fun little activity to do in Fort Bragg with your dog. It seems the rules have changed since the last review though. Dogs don’t have to be muzzled but you do have to buy a ticket for them ($11). I did the Pudding Creek trip and stayed the two hours at Glen Blair Jct to enjoy the forest trails with my dog (we usually live in the desert so trees and grass were a nice change!).

  Bring a picnic to have at Glen Blair (there are picnic tables and a portaloo but nothing else) and enjoy the quiet of the forest. They were working on more trails and a more accessible platform. The trails were pretty easy, although narrow with some up and down. Not suitable for pushchairs for example.

  Dogs on trains - who knew?

  Having gone on a camping trip to Mendocino over the Labour Day Weekend with my little dog, I had the dilemma of finding things to do where he would be allowed as he was not allowed inside the cabins at KOA and locking him in the car would be cruel under the heat. It was a pleasant surprise then to find out that he was allowed on the Skunk Train tour. The only condition was that he should be on a muzzle.

  I tried to get him a muzzle at the local pet stores but they unfortunately were out of his size. Instead, I had a bandanna with me which I indicated to the staff I would put it on him soon as we boarded. Poor guy would have nothing to do with the cloth over his snout but the staff were nice and did not kick us off the train. Our car was relatively empty so the dog and I had the bench to ourselves with my relatives in front. People passing by petted him lots, including the staff themselves.

  Kudos to Skunk Train for saving me the headache of finding a place to confine him while I had fun. This way, we both got to get on the tour (although he probably would not call a train ride fun).
