Idaho Falls River Walk - Greenbelt Trail Set out on a 10.6 mile loop around the dog-friendly Greenbelt Trail, a popular section of the 14-mile Idaho Falls River Walk. Greenbelt Trail leads walkers, bikers, and bird watchers along five miles of paved path on each side of the Snake River. Described as an easy trail to take at a casual pace on foot, leashed dogs are welcome to accompany you on this scenic 3 hour loop. Pet Friendly Tubbs Hill
Tubbs Hill Tubbs Hill is a dog-friendly, 120-acre nature area in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Leashed pets are permitted throughout Tubbs Hill. A two mile historical loop trail outlines the perimeter of Tubbs Hill. The trail features historic points of interest along with breathtaking scenery. The self-guided tour takes about two-hours. Smaller trails lead down to the lake where dogs can frolic in the water near small beaches. See Details
Eagle Island State Park Eagle Island State Park is a 545-acre, dog-friendly park in Eagle, ID, home to five miles of trails that can be enjoyed by dogs and their owners. Most of the trails lead through grassy meadows to the Boise River and are perfect for pooches and their owners to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors. Dogs are allowed to be off-leash on designated, off-leash trails and in the designated Dogs Off-Leash Area. Check their website for a map of these areas. See Details
Shoshone Falls Park Bring Fido to Shoshone Falls Park to marvel at "the Niagara of the West" in Twin Falls, ID. The park is dog-friendly and features open green space, trails, picnic tables, grills, benches, restrooms, drinking fountains, a concession stand, a boat launch to Snake River, and, of course, Shoshone Falls with a 212-foot drop at a width of 900 feet. Dogs must be on a leash during their visit and are not allowed in the grassy area of Dierkes Lake. There is a seasonal vehicle fee to enter the park. See Details
The Ashton to Tetonia Trail Dogs are welcome on the Ashton to Tetonia Trail in Ashton, ID. This pet-friendly trail stretches for nearly 30 miles through the classic countryside of Idaho. The trail itself follows the route of a once important railroad, the Oregon Short Line, that used to connect isolated communities and transport livestock. Nowadays, it's frequented by bikers and hikers who are looking to explore the farmland in this pretty rural area. As well as the fields full of various crops, you'll also pass over three historic bridges, wander through pine trees, and witness wonderful views of the Teton Mountains. See Details
Moose Lake Loop Moose Lake Loop is a 7-mile hike in Idaho Panhandle National Forest that will take about 4 hours to complete with Fido. As you hike you will come to a pleasant alpine lake where you can take a swim and enjoy the sun. Continue on to a quiet summit where you can take in the panoramic views. Weiser River National Recreation Trail The Weiser River National Recreation Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Council! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Weiser River National Recreation Trail. Ponderosa State Park Ponderosa State Park in McCall, ID, is pet friendly. The centerpiece of this popular park is Payette Lake, a clear body of water high in the mountains. You and Fido are welcome to enjoy the surrounding hiking trails that weave around sections of the Payette River through meadows among the huge pine trees. There are a number of cabins and campsites dotted around the picturesque park as well. Fido is welcome to join you around the park, but is not allowed to enter the designated swimming area. Ridge to River Trail System The Ridge to River Trail System is a dog-friendly network of over 190 miles of trails, weaving around the foothills of the capital city of Idaho, Boise. The trails in this network not only link the hills together, but also local neighborhoods. They vary in difficulty, ranging from steep and difficult pathways through the hills, to more gradual inclines. Although Fido must stay on their leash for most of the trails, including the Freestone Creek Trail, the Oregon Trail, and the Veterans Trail; there are a few controlled off-leash trails as well, such as the Corrals Trail, the Three Bears Trail, Shane's Loop, and the Ponds Loop. Dog owners should keep their leash with them at all times and be ready to pick up any mess made by their pets. See Details
Thousand Springs State Park & Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument Leashed dogs are welcome to join their owners at pet-friendly Thousand Springs State Park in Hagerman. Located in the Magic Valley region of southern Idaho, this beautiful park is divided into a number of different areas and is home to sections of the Oregon Trail as well as a stunning picnic spot at the Malad Gorge. Henrys Lake State Park Henrys Lake State Park is a pet-friendly destination in Island Park, ID. Situated around one of Idaho's prettiest mountain lakes just down the road from Yellowstone National Park, this state park is home to plenty of beautiful nature trails for hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. Dogs aren't allowed in the waters of this 6,000-acre lake, but they can join you elsewhere in the picturesque park. See Details
Harriman State Park Harriman State Park in Idaho is a waterfowl and wildlife refuge, where leashed pets are welcome to explore beyond the parking lot in the winter season. Located in Island Park, this 16,000-acre refuge is home to moose, elk, trumpeter swans and a variety of other animals. The dog-friendly Harriman Hounds Trail is groomed in the winter for you and Fido to enjoy, however, pets are not allowed on park trails, in any park buildings or yurts during the rest of the year. Hells Gate State Park Hells Gate State Park is a dog-friendly attraction in Lewiston, ID. This park is located at the Snake River's downstream entrance to Hells Canyon, which is the deepest canyon in North America. Fido isn't allowed in the water, but leashed dogs can join you on any of the trails that weave around the picturesque canyon floor. There is an entrance fee to visit. See Details
City of Rocks National Reserve The City of Rocks National Reserve in Almo, Idaho is a pet-friendly destination. This 14,407-acre park is a rock climber's paradise, made up of granite spires and monoliths reaching 60 stories. Your pooch can join you on the trails, but they must be on a leash and digging is strictly prohibited to preserve the natural beauty of the park. There is a vehicle entrance fee, unless you have an Idaho State Parks Passport. See Details
Sawtooth National Recreation Area The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (Sawtooth NRA) consists of 756,000 acres of beautiful mountanious scenery. The Sawtooth NRA includes the Sawtooth Wilderness, Cecil D. Andrus-White Clouds Wilderness, and the Hemingway-Boulders Wilderness areas. The Sawtooth NRA has over 700 miles of trails, 40 peaks rising over 10,000 feet and 300-plus high-elevation alpine lakes that add to the spectacular scenery and vistas. Recreational pursuits include outdoor activities like camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, boating and canoeing, rafting, observing nature, photography and bicycling.

Please keep pets on a leash. The park has a "Leave-No-Trace" policy, so please pack out or use a 6 to 8 inch cat-hole for all pet waste.

City Creek Trail System City Creek Trail System provides approximately 50 miles of exceptional hiking and riding trails within the Pocatello city limits. Managed by the City, this fantastic Idaho resource is utilized by hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers, off-road vehicles and dog walkers. The main City Creek Trail gains almost 1,000 feet in elevation from the Grant Street Parking Lot to the last connection with City Creek Road. See Details
Round Lake State Park Dogs are allowed at Round Lake State Park in Sagle, ID, a forested park on the edge of a 58-acre lake. The area is popular among hikers, fisherman, and ornithologists. As you wander the many pet-friendly trails through the trees together, you'll discover beaver lodges and may even see a resident moose going about their day; spot ducks and red-winged blackbirds flying in the sky around the lake; and see rainbow trout and bass cutting shapes in the waters. Adams Gulch Area Trails Adams Gulch Area Trails is a dog-friendly loop in Ketchum, ID, that weaves through the mountains to an overlook with spectacular views of Sun Valley. Dogs are welcome to join you on the trail and can even wander freely off-leash for sections of it. Make sure you and Fido keep an eye out for stinging nettles when you're on the trail. See Details
