Description

On Saturday, April 26, 2014, the members of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Southeastern Michigan, an AKC Breed Club, will hold their 29th annual Breed Specialty at the Ann Arbor Dog Training Club in Whitmore Lake. The public is welcome to attend and can find details on the website (www.westieclubmi.com). Westies come from many states to attend and compete for Best of Breed. Mid-day the Club honors the Westies who were rescued during the previous year by holding a Rescue Parade, featuring Scottish piper and a representative from St. Andrews in full parade dress. Club Westies, known as Wee Marshalls, are dressed in their kilts and lead the rescued Westies in the parade. A good lunch is available, along with fundraising items and time to meet and talk to fellow Westie lovers as the day goes on. If you have a Westie or would like to “meet the breed”, consider attending this festivity, where you can see the formal Show Westies as well as many pet Westies. Breeders will be in attendance, as well as the many Rescue folks and those who have adopted Westies over the years.
