Description
The Lake Hopatcong Open Water Swim Festival is an athletic event that benefits orphaned animals and supports K9 services that are a vital part of the safety and security of our community, all while promoting healthy outdoor recreation, sportsmanship and friendly competition!
On September 7, 2014 the Lake Hopatcong Open Water Swim Festival (LHOWSF) www.swimlakehopatcong.com will celebrate its sixth year, holding its annual race in Woodport Bay on the north end of beautiful Lake Hopatcong. This year LHOWSF is sanctioned by United States Master Swimming (USMS) and World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA). In total our festival is now featuring four exciting racing events: 1 Mile US Masters Division (USMS), 2 Mile Open Division (WOWSA), 1 Mile Tom Wear Memorial Swim (WOWSA), 12 & Under 100 Yard Kid’s Swim (WOWSA).
Our swim festival is more than a race. It is about bringing the business community, volunteers and athletes together to raise awareness and funds for non-profit organizations. Each year we’ve raised between $6-11K for animal rescue and K9 charities.
