The Richmond Times-Dispatch's Fido Fest is back due to popular demand. Join us for a day to celebrate Richmond's love for dogs on Brown's Island. You and your dogs can sample, test and experience the latest pet products, services and more from our many local vendors. Plus, enjoy live pet-related performances throughout the day and crafts for the kiddos. The best part of all is that a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Richmond SPCA. Fido Fest is an all-day, interactive family festival for humans and dogs alike. Enjoy fun activities for everyone. From the smallest to the biggest ultimate high flyer, all breeds of any size are welcome to participate in this family-friend event all day long! Show competitions will be held at 11a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and are hosted by Milt Wilcox, President of Ultimate Air Dogs. Each dog will have the opportunity to jump off the dock into a pool of water, and the jump distance will be recorded from the end of the dock to the base of each dog’s tail. Each dog gets two jumps per turn with the higher score resulting in the recorded score. Interested in signing your pooch up? Pre-register today, and pick what splash round you wish to participate in. On-site registration will be based on open availability starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Ultimate Air Dogs space, but pre-registration is highly recommended and ensures a competitor’s place in the competition. You will need to check-in within 30 minutes before your time slot in order to participate. Remember, there’s a limit of 40 registered dogs per splash.
