Tillamook Animal Shelter fundraiser

I have a thought. I would like to plan an event here in Tillamook County to benefit our local animal shelter, Tillamook Animal Shelter, in memory of my daughter whom we lost earlier this year (2013) in a motor vehicle accident. Sondi was an animal advocate and I would like to honor her memory by doing this. I am thinking along the lines of a beach Walk-A-Thon from Happy Camp to Oceanside. I'm not sure where to start, but I will begin by contacting the shelter and going from there. Any ideas?
