In case you were not aware of its history this part of Northern California is where the Gold Rush began.
Best part of the family trip was being able to bring Bingo, our 5-year-old black lab to many of the places - like the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park and hike around the Gold Bug Mine. We stayed at the Best Western.Placerville and ate a lovely lunch on the patio of the town's Filo's café.
One of the coolest attractions was booking a private "Bark n' Boo" tour with Ghost Tours of Placerville. Our guide took us on an hour-long walk along Main Street. Her Gold Rush ghost stories were terrific, and she even gave Bingo a treat!
Everyone applauded or wagged their tail at the end.
