Flying with my cat from Los Angeles to Austria

Hey there.
I also chose Lufthansa. I'll be flying the first time with my cat from Los Angeles to Austria.
My cat has 12 pounds. well I'm a little scared because I don't wanna give my cat any medicine and he can't use the bathroom for about 18 hours which is my whole travel time......
Please talk to me if you have any experience traveling with a cat for a very long time.
