Days Inn Lonoke -
average traveler review
1. Mixed feelings
by Judy of Sherman, TX
My Husband and I have stayed here twice. The first time (summer 2001 or 2002), we requested a room with a microwave & fridge, as we were going to be there for 3 nights, and these extra amenities were very convenient. Our room requested was granted, but we were traveling alone -- no pets.
The second time (Nov. 2004), we were traveling with 2 chihuahuas. My husband's family lives in the area, and we were visiting for the holidays. When I reserved the room, I asked if we could bring our dogs. They said we could, but there was a small deposit per dog, which I found to be reasonable. Apparently, the Lonoke Days Inn has designated "pet rooms", which did not have the extra "luxuries" of microwave and fridge, which was very disappointing, as we were there for 3 nights once again... and one can only spend so much time with the in-laws. I'm not sure if the hotel owners believed that pet owners were somehow inferior to non-petowners. The room itself was not nearly as nice as the one we had on our first stay. I know that hotel staff have to deal with pet messes, so I can understand the unattractive, dark carpet and the dark less-luxurious bed linens. But I really don't understand why they would refuse to allow a microwave and fridge in a "pet room". I am not sure how any pet could destroy a micro or fridge; that would seem to be more of a human thing.
Now here is why I rate my second experience at Lonoke Days Inn as a 4 instead of a 2 or 3:
If I recall correctly, the final rates we paid for both stays were similar. Each time, it was late when we checked in (probably between 10 PM & midnight). The night manager who checked us in was incredibly friendly and helpful. She had spent time several years before in my area of rural North Texas, and I was able to inform her of current events in my little area of the world.
Overall, I would stay here again. In my opinion, the Lonoke Days Inn is superior to the Lonoke Super 8 motel. Apparently, since I was in Lonoke last, a pet-friendly Holiday Inn Express Suites has opened. It appears a little more luxurious, but of course, higher rates go along with that.
