1. Nice View
by Stacey of Talladega, AL
When I arrived at the hotel for check-in I found that someone had not added the charge on for pets. The hotel manager voided the pet fee for our stay, due to the fact that they could not change the rate given to me at the time of reservation. We found the hotel to be a older hotel, but they had done everything they could to dress the room up. And in this hotel the pets had the best rooms. We were on the first floor at the back of the hotel and the Little Pigeon River was 20-30 ft. from our door. There were also picnic tables outside our door for people to sit and watch the creek. A wonderful view that usually cost extra in other hotels in the area. The only drawback was the dogwalk area, it was rather small and on a slope between the rooms and the creek. The location of the hotel in Pigeon Forge was also very central to almost everything. Also as with many hotels you could not leave the dog in the room unattended even if in a crate. I also noticed that the room walls were so insolated that you could not hear other dogs barking. I have stayed in other hotels and barking was a issue in the past. One last thing they advertise WI-FI but it is only available in the lobby, although I was to get enough of a connection in our room to use my laptop by opening the curtains a bit. Not all rooms will be able to pick up a connection though. Overall I would recommend this hotel to other people traveling with their pets.
2. NEVER AGAIN
by K. Ford of Attalla, AL
This is an old hotel and it shows. The staff is rude and uncaring. Our bathroom ceiling leaked profusely. God only knows where the water came from. They promised to fix it but never did. We ran out of hot water and lost power to half our room. We were offered another room at midnight, 24 hours after first reporting the problem. The night staff were the worst, saying I can't help you and the leak cannot be fixed. The free breakfast is NOT free. I called the manager for 2 days after checking out and she will not take my calls or return calls. This is a HORRIBLE place and I will NEVER return. Money wasted, they charged $1.50 a day to use a phone that was only used to complain.
3. Good for what you pay for
by Megan of Nashville, TN
The Grand Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, TN was just OK. I have definitely seen and stayed in worse hotels, but I wasn't expecting it to be the nicest hotel ever because of the price we paid for the room, as well as their pet policy.
It's definitely a nice place to stay at for one or two nights with your pets though. The bed was very comfortable, and my pups seemed to enjoy it. It's also located right on the river, so there is a nice area to walk your dogs to go potty.
All in all, I rate this hotel a 3 because it wasn't the nicest hotel in the world, but it could definitely of been worse. The dogs were welcomed and only got compliments from other guests who saw them.
