Description

Nestled in a shady grove of cottonwood trees, the Downstream Campground is the only class A facility in the area. Located near the town of Fort Peck, the campground is just below the dam on the Missouri River . Amenities include: paved sites with electrical hookups, 7 handicapped (ADA) accessible sites, hot showers, flush toilets, a sanitary dump station, 24-hour gate attendants during the summer season, payphone with internet access, nature trail connecting to the Interpretive Center, picnic areas, fishing ponds, playground equipment, sand volleyball court, a basketball court, and horseshoe pits. A group area with 10 camp sites with a centrally located picnic shelter is also available for reservations. A variety of sport equipment, including fishing equipment, is available for loan from the gatehouse. Ice and firewood are sold at the campground. There are no water hookup sites, but five hydrants located throughout the campground are available to fill tanks with potable water. The peak season is from mid-May to early September. During this period there are 24-hour gate attendants and reservations can be made for summer season by calling the National Recreation Reservation Service at1-888-448-1474, or visit www.recreation.gov. From the end of April to mid-May and again from early September to the end of October is the shoulder season. The campground is open, but on a first come, first serve, basis only. The campground is closed from the beginning of November to the end of April. The cost of a campsite are $16 for 30 amp sites and $18 for 50 amp sites. Each campsite is allowed one camper/RV and one tent for that fee. Golden Age, Golden Access, Interagency Senior Passes , and Interagency Access Passes are all honored at the Downstream Campground.
