The room wasn't as small as I was expecting. We had a great view of the Bay bridge. The pillows were awesome. And the cheesy leopard print robes topped off a great stay.

Great for the price

We live in the Bay Area and were looking for a room during the Bay bridge closure. We got the cheapest room we could find closet to the office since this was just for an overnight stay. I was surprised to find a room so affordable in this part of town. The size of the room was typical for boutique hotels in SF. In the past I've stayed in a much smaller room at the Fairmont in SF and paid a lot more. The front desk was professional and friendly. They were very accommodating, and offered the use of water bowls and dog bed. The room was clean and well decorated. The hotel hallway was a little muggy but the air conditioner worked fine in the room, a little loud though. The hotel shares the building with the Embarcadero YMCA which is a clean, well equipped workout facility with a pool. The hotel has a special daily rate at the Y for hotel guests. I would recommend this hotel for business travelers or people just looking for a safe, comfortable, clean place to sleep. It is walking distance to some great SOMA restaurants and they did offer a menu of in-room spa treatments.

Harbor Court Hotel

I have stayed in Kimpton Hotels many times because their pet policy. Usually I stay at the Argonaut -- which I have always been pleased with. But decided to try another this trip. SO Lucy and I checked in to the Harbor Court Hotel. The location is marvelous adjacent to Embarcadero, Movies, shopping and the new most fabulous restaurants in town. She was accepted without comment (or enthusiasm) with no trouble at all. However, except for the young valet, she seemed merely tolerated. Compared to their other hotels, I did notice a difference. The room was beautifully decorated but the smallest room I have ever seen. Barely enough room to get around the bed and during the week when it is $300 per night plus $42 for valet parking, it was disappointing. And, although this has nothing to do with the pet policy, I felt the young lady behind the front desk had quite an attitude. I was trying to get some tax business to my financial advisor in Walnut Creek so I asked if they knew of a courier service. No one checked for me -- they just said they don't think they go out of town. I would not return. I'd give it a 2 for room size and with exception of room service and valet, I'd give service a 2 as well. All front desk staff have a serious attitude problem.
