My new hubby and I had a very relaxing stay while at The Shores. All of the staff were very professional and friendly. They even made our dog Droopy feel welcome. Our room was immaculate and we had a great view of the beach and the river. Props to the chef in the resturant. We especially enjoyed our breakfast of french toast with peaches. The massage therapist was expensive, but it was worth every penny. My migraine headache was gone after a great facial. When we want a beach getaway, we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the shores resort in November with our Rhodesian Ridgeback. All staff members were great and welcoming. Our dog loved it. She loved the big bed and the balcony. There is a park next door which dogs are welcome. There are even clean up bags available for clean up. Would recommend this hotel to anyone like us who cannot travel without our "kid".
FANTASTIC RESORT!!

We found The Shores Resort and Spa through BringFido.com (great website!) for a last-minute vacation and booked our reservation online. We were really glad to find a nice resort that would allow our "fuzzy child" to come with us. From the minute we checked in to the minute we checked out, we were in HEAVEN. We were blown away at the exquisite ambience, the large gorgeous room (bed was SO comfy, plenty of space for pup's bed and toys without feeling at all cramped), the fantastic food (24-hour room service), and luxury surroundings. The staff (everyone from the housekeeping ladies to the poolside servers) was absolutely top notch, and everyone was very nice to our pup. Housekeeping was very gracious about working with us to service the room at certain times so we could be there with the pup or take him on a walk so they could work undisturbed. The young gentleman who delivered most of our food to the room was very funny and understanding when our pup "defended" our room - by the third day they were fast friends. The pool area was divine - warm pool, extra-large spa, "fountains" you can splash in, sandy spots with large chairs under bright umbrellas, cabanas, and the fire pit lit every night at sunset. Gorgeous tropical landscaping and plenty of different areas to sit, both in the sun and the shade. Hidden speakers in the landscaping played fun music, and the large Pina Coladas were excellent. Really...the BEST vacation we've had in years! We never left the resort, except to walk the dog (there is no dog-walk area on the resort grounds...we found a nice neighborhood with sidewalks just across the street, one block north to walk in). Dogs are not allowed on the beach there, either, but we found the Lighthouse Public Beach at the southern end of the island where dogs are OK and no cars allowed on the sand - takes about fifteen minutes to drive to (straight shot all the way down S. Atlantic), and costs $3.50 to enter, but Poppi LOVED running around chasing the seagulls and crabs near the dunes. We went around 5:30 PM when it was a little less crowded...stays open until 9:00 PM, so we didn't have to rush. Don't know if hours will change during off-season. Nice place to take the dog, worth the pretty drive. Overall...we loved The Shores - worth every dollar! We can't say enough about it, and we can't wait to go back!
