Perfect for a rescue adoption
SAS
in West Roxbury, MA
This was a midway point for me to meet and adopt my second german shorthaired pointer. I took my first and the man I was meeting brought along two additional large dogs. The golf course was perfect for the dogs to blow off steam after a 6 hour drive, especially since it was February and noone was playing gold. The accommodations were certainly nice enough. The one funny thing you have to becareful of is if you have hunting dogs the armish drive the horse and buggies, my dog and the new one took off for about a mile chasing after it, but they came back. It's all good.
We agree dog friendly

We were very happy with the accommodations at the Host Resort. I don't think we were even charged a pet fee. We were given a room right next to an exit door for easy access to outside, which can be a big deal with two 6 month old Lab puppies. We would definitely stay here again, and the grounds are beautiful, and the dog recreation area is more than large enough to run dogs before getting back into a car with them for the next leg of your trip. We were completely satisfied with out stay at the resort.
Very dog friendly

The hotel was very dog friendly. They turned an 18-acre golf course into recreational area where the dogs can play. We got to play a lot of ball. We have 2 cairn terriers but we saw dogs of all sizes there. When I made the reservation over the internet I noted that we had two dogs. When we checked in I mentioned it again and the clerk nodded her head.
The facilities were ok, older but in good repair.
The recreational options were great - indoor and outdoor pools, lots of activities for the kids, ping pong, shuffle board, bikes, volley ball, pool, video games, board games, movies for the kids every evening, etc.
The restaurant was ok but the kids got to eat free so we ate there most of the time.
We will definitely go back.
I really appreciate the information here on BringFido for helping me find a nice getaway for me, my kids and the dogs.
Happy Old Dog in Lancaster

Thanks BringFido! You made our family weekend getaway a reality. Our "Doberdor" (half doberman, half lab :-) is now 14. We haven't been travelling because she now walks slowly and has trouble with stairs so it is hard to find someone who can watch her. I couldn't find a hotel that would take a dog larger than 35 pounds and then I found BringFido. Between not seeing "dog" information on their main web site, her size, reading a review about a dog crate being required, the fancy lobby, and seeing no other dogs, I was worried there might be a problem. When we checked in and they said "two adults and 2 children?" I said "yes". They didn't mention "dog" so neither did I...I felt that information had been provided with the reservation. We enjoyed the indoor pool, game room, outdoor pool, front grassy area in front of the hotel, miniature golf, shuffleboard, and ping pong.
The pool is in the center of the huge courtyard and then surrounding the pool there's grassy area with other activites. After seeing another dog in the volleyball/grassy area in the courtyard, I relaxed a bit. The hallway leading from our room to the courtyard (and also the side hotel exit) was a long walk for our old dog so on the day we checked out I spent the entire morning with her in the courtyard. [For anyone who's read (non bringfido) negative reviews about the hotel's hallways, I'd like to mention that while the hallways are very very long, to me the lighting was ok and the carpet looked relatively new. Also I'd like to mention, if available, rooms on the front side of the hotel that open up to the court yard are great for dogs. In the morning they are nice and shady while the other side is in the direct sun] ] We sat under a shady tree and enjoyed the beautiful morning. While I am unable to confirm the hotel's "official" dog policy, there were many staff members coming and going but no one questioned us. Knowing that once laying down my dog wouldn't move on her own (she needs a little help standing) I looped her leash on my chair and went for a morning swim. Taking care of an aging pet can be stressful but we both were rejuvenated by our weekend!!! I give a 5 bone rating because the hotel worked for us, I will ALWAYS cherish our nice trip together and I am very grateful for the information provided by BringFido!!
Lancaster Host Farms

Lancaster Host Farms is a beautiful hotel with a very nice pool. The place is kept very clean. You are allowed a small dog and the fee is $25.00 for the stay. They require that you cage your pet while you are not in the hotel room. We were on the 3rd floor which is the level below the lobby so I felt like I was in the basement but the room had a very big window which looked out onto the golf course.
Labor Day weekend
Michael
in NYC, NY
We traveled to Lancaster for the Labor Day Weekend and found the Hotel to be centrally-located, clean and a friendly place towards pets (we saw a number of pets in the hotel) There is a lot of space outside to walk the dog as well. We were not charged the $25/dog fee - as we didnt mention the dog at check-in - and they didnt ask (even though the reservation was from Bring fido!).

The room was really really nice. The staff we encountered were friendly. We didn't use any off the amenities such as the pool or golf course, so I can't comment on that. There were small fenced in areas for dogs to run around in and our dog really enjoyed playing with her new friend. I would stay here again.

Clean, large, comfortable rooms; nice decor though not in a five-star sort of way. The staff was polite and helpful when we ordered extra pillows, and the guy who delivered them said "Someone says hello!" when our dog barked at his knock. There were tons of other people with dogs there, and everyone seemed happy.
Dog friendly, but noisy.

It is true that this hotel is completely dog friendly and reasonably priced. Overall the accommodations were decent, but not great. There were bus loads of kids running in the halls (all hours of the night) during our stay. All the commotion in the halls made it impossible for our black lab to relax and go to sleep. I actually considered leaving at midnight to drive home.

The hotel was definately pet friendly lots of areas to take my dog for a nice walk. The rates were great. The hotel, however, does need a face lift. The cleanliness of the hotel also needs work. The rooms could be cleaner and the grounds as well. We always saw grounds keepers but I am not sure what they were doing. Because garbage cans were full for days. Would we stay again possibly if we couldnt find another hotel within the same price range. Hotel was accomodating with cleaning the room everyday at an assigned time so that we could take the dog out while they JUST made the bed and gave us clean towels.
poor service

Had a major problem with loud radio at midnight. Took security(?) over an hour to respond. Would not offer any compensation, only 'sorry'. Total lack of concern for guests.
