Great place to stay!
Angela in Goodwin
We stayed at the Red Roof Inn for 2 nights and it was great. The best feature was the room for the price we paid. Will be back soon!

Great place
Celia in Boydton
Very nice clean quiet room. A small area for our dog to do his business, but adequate. The location is fantastic for hikers and shoppers. We would definitely stay again.

Right by the Great Smoky Mountains!
Elizabeth in Nashville
We stayed in this hotel for two nights...it was perfect. In case people need more of an area to walk their dogs, they could always walk two blocks to the beginning of the Gatlinburg Trail of the Smoky Mountains which runs right by a river and is one of the two trails that allows dogs. The hotel is also a short walk from the strip, so we took our dog there too and she had a blast. Pretty much the only problem we had was with the door handle of the bathroom, but since we asked for the cleaning staff not to clean our room, we didn't get that fixed during our stay. Beds were comfortable, plenty of room (2 queen beds and room for the dog's crate). Also with the mini-fridge, cable, and the free wi-fi, we had everything at our fingertips! I would definitely recommend this place and go back!

Extremely Pet Friendly & Nice Clean Pet Rooms!
Eric in Clarksville
We recently stayed in this hotel for 8 days. We are still getting adjusted to having to find Pet rooms as we have only had our 2 dogs for the past few years. The pet friendly hotels are limited and many claim to be pet friendly but end up not being so. We compared and choose this particular hotel because of location, pet fee, and quality of hotel. There is only a few hotels in Gatlinburg area that we found which claimed to be pet friendly and this was the best of those in our opinion. First, I will address the pet friendly rooms. They were very clean, and did not smell at all. The carpets appeared clean as well. The rooms were updated and moderately nice for a hotel of this price range. We had read a review of issues with Westgate properties in the area and a matter of bed bugs. We had no issues with any sort of bugs and at the time of our visit they actually came in and sprayed the common areas for insects. The g internet connection worked great from our room. It did go out one day but was repaired quickly. For once we actually got online at a hotel that advertised wireless communication. That was a plus. We compared the price of pet fees for the hotels and found this hotel to have the fairest fees as they only charged us 10 dollars per room, per night and not per pet. Some hotels were charging 20 per pet, per night and a 20 dollar cleaning fee for the stay. That is a bit steep, we felt. Also, as far as having an area to walk the dogs or bring them out, I felt that it was extremely friendly. I really understand people and how they make these statements that I found to be completely false. We are very picky people, we thought and were extremely happy with the pet area situation. First, the properties in downtown Gatlinburg, do sometimes have limited space for grass and even parking. This hotel sits right up next to the foot of the Mountain Range. Our room was on the backside which had a beautiful view along the running creek and forest. To let our pets go to the bathroom, we walked the short distance to the front of the hotel and to the rear of the small parking area at the entrance to the forest and also a separate small strip of grassy land going alongside the parking area. There is a path leading into the forest and we would sometimes walk a ways into the forest but mainly brought the pets along the strip of grassy area which was only about 5 feet wide but about 100 feet long. Many of the properties surrounding the hotel do post signs but those are personally owned properties and probably had problems with people let their dogs do their business and leaving it on their lawn. The best thing to do for this situation is to ask for a room near the pool area which is closest to the pet area. The backside and rear of the hotel has the best views. Our small dogs could put their heads through the railings in the back but we had them on a leash and watched them, just like we would our children. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful with many suggestions about the area and such. One plus was the sound proofing of the rooms. The walls were very thick so you couldn't easily hear outside or your neighbor's T.V. for instance. That is a plus when you have pets who many bark if they hear noises. Overall, we felt that the hotel was extremely accommodating and reasonable with good pets policies. For the price, you really get much more than you pay for especially in comparison to the other hotels. We were extremely happy as were our kids and dogs and we will stay there again.

Close to Smoky Mountain National Park
Marie in Lafayette, LA
This was our first vacation traveling with our two dogs, so I don't have a lot to compare it with. We stayed 2 nights at the Gatlinburg location and found it easy to get to and easier to access the park, which was our main concern. The room was very clean and fresh, and although I would have preferred a hard surface floor, there were no evident stains on the carpet. The space to "walk your dog" was limited, but we were ot put off by having to walk around the corner to accomplish the task. The staff was cheerful at check-in, and the rates were very reasonable for the Gatlinburg area. The continental breakfast was a little more limited than I have had at other hotels, but it was still convienent to have juice and waffles in the morning. I would stay here again. My only disappointment was that Gatlinburg itself is not the quaint community it used to be. Too much commercialism, but the park is still lovely, albeit not too pet friendly.

ROOMS LOOK JUST FINE BUT NOT ALL ROOMS WERE PET ROOMS. WHEN WE WENT TO EAT ONE DAY THE HOUSE KEEPER ENTERED OUR ROOM EVEN THOUGH WE HAD THE DO NOT DISTURB SIGN ON THE DOOR AND WHEN OUR SLEEPING DOG AWOKE AND BEGAN TO BARK THEY DECODED OUR ROOM KEY WHERE WE COULD NOT GET BACK INTO OUR ROOM AND STATED WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE HER ALONE AT ALL (EVEN THOUGH WE WERE ONLY GONE TO EAT) THEN THE RECEPTIONIST LIED AND STATED THEY DID NOT KNOW WE HAD A DOG WITH US (EVEN THOUGH WE HAD INCLUDED HER ON OUR RESERVATION AND PAID THE $10. PER DAY FEE ON OUR CHECK IN) AND STATED OUR ROOM WAS NOT A PET ROOM. EXCEPT FOR THE RUDE STAFF EVERY THING ELSE WAS FINE AND ITS REALLY CLOSE TO THE MAIN STRIP.

Great
Rhonda in Hobart
We just stayed 2 nights in Gatlinburg, but the hotel was excellent and Ken at the front desk was the best I've ever dealt with. When he found out that we were going on to Asheville from there, he called the Red Roof in Asheville and was able to get us a better rate then where we already had reservations. The only downside to Gatlinburg was the dog walk area could have been better, the dog walk area in Asheville was great! I travel with 4 chihuahuas and I've decided that I will always stay at a Red Roof if possible.

One of the nicest rooms I have stayed in for a pet friendly hotel.I have stayed in a few were I was afraid to let my "girl" walk around on the floor. The room was very clean and spacious. I would definately stay there again.

Amanda in Nashville
Our room was clean and comfortable. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful. We did have a little problem with our key card working, and it is true that there is no place to walk your dog on their property. I walked right across the street to some grassy areas by some hotels that were closed down. It wasn't a big deal for us.

WAS OKAY
RENAY in MOORESVILLE NC
NOTHING GREAT, BUT WORKED OUT FINE BECAUSE WE NEEDED A PLACE FOR OUR DOG. ONLY REAL PROBLEM WAS NO PLACE FOR DOG TO GO DO HIS THING.( NEEDED TO WALK HIM UP THE STREET)

Not too bad...
Julie in Apex, NC
My husband and I stayed here for one night in March, 2010, because it was pet friendly and had pretty good reviews. The hotel itself is not the finest, but we did find it clean, which is very important. We would only stay here again if we needed a place with our dogs...if we didn't have the dogs with us we probably wouldn't stay here. We were also given a room upstairs and far from the dog walking area, knowing we had dogs, which made it quite difficult taking them out when needed. Unfortunately, dog friendly motels are not always the nicest, so we probably wouldn't stay there again unless we were in a pinch and nothing else was available.

The rooms were clean and did not smell lke dog. They had been remodeled, but need to replace the mattress. Not a large parking area and not a lot of grass for dogs. Price was great. I stay at a lot of Red Roof Inns because of travel and they are pet friendly.

The room was nice but the parking lot was not. There wasn't any room to park or get out. The room was quiet and the layout was good. The coffee was wonderful.

OK if you like black bears
Harry in Dayton
We locked our Westie in the car (with the sunroof open) and walked downtown for a quick dinner. When we came back a black bear was marauding through the dumpster in the parking lot and through one in the passageway to the other side of the building. He was literally no more than two feet from the guest doors. I ducked into the lobby and asked the attendant if he knew there was a bear int he parking lot. "Oh yeah, he is here a couple of times a week." That was enough for us. We won't be back.

Are you kidding?

No view, no place to take pets out, signs all around in grass areas, "Keep pets out"

Red Roof
Chanda in Chattanooga, TN
The Red Roof Inn in Gatlinburg claimed to be pt friendly, however there was no place on the property to take my dog to the bathroom, also the balcony on the back side had very large spacing between the rails so we could not have our dog sit outside with us. At the very least they need a dog walking area so you do not have to cross a busy street with your pet.
