If you want a ground floor room with a door to the courtyard you must speak to the hotel staff directly before you arrive. Written requests on apps will not be enough. A doggy paradise. Courtyard rooms have doors that open directly onto large grass area. Howard Amon Park is right next to the hotel with a very nice riverside walking path. Older building but well maintained, large room, comfortable bed. Will stay there again.

They placed us on the ground floor with a sliding glass door. Right out side is a big lawn and trail for a nice little walk. Plenty of waste cans to put the droppings in. Our little puppy had lots of room and was allowed to roam with a leash.

I received a call around 9:50 am the morning of our reservation to confirm we were coming and I told him we were out wouldn't arrive until the evening as we were coming from Seattle. On the way from Seattle, I called again to make sure they held our reservation as we weren't going to make it until 9 pm. I was told, we were fine. We arrived just after 9 pm and were told they had no reservation under our name. With further investigation they told us that our reservation had been cancelled around 9:50 am due to overbooking. The hotel front desk clerk felt horrible and called around and luckily was able to find a hotel with one room left at Best Western in Kennewick (that allowed dogs) -- he saved us from sleeping in our car after driving 3+ hours from Seattle. Horrible customer service to cancel someone after calling to confirm with them and not telling them!!!

Hotel is right on the river with a lot of walking paths and green grass. Staff was friendly, room was simple but clean. There is a back door of the room that leads directly out to a courtyard and sown to the river walk. Plenty of restaurants nearby too.

Pulled up to the hotel and was surprised to see a Holiday Inn. Red Lion no more. Holiday Inn is moving in and giving the place a face-lift. Despite the covid and construction restrictions, our stay was great. Our room was nearly spotless and the staff warmly welcomed the 3 of us (2 humans 1 furby). Dog and human treats were passed out in paperbags upon arrival and again for breakfast in the morning.

We had a roomy king room with a door that opened up to courtyard, which had lots of grassy areas. Very convenient! Hotel only charges $15 pet fee at end of stay, max of two pets, no weight limit. Free hot breakfast on their restaurant patio with our pooch was great! Close to Columbia River, with paved trail along river and lots of grass.
