Norm's Eatery & Ale House Overview
The Scene
To the uninitiated, the name may bring to mind a portly TV barfly, but this Fremont spot is, in fact, named after a dog, which is obvious enough upon entry--Norm and his canine pals adorn much of the wall space. Featuring a nightly food special dubbed the "Doggie Bowl," the theme may be just a little too much for some, particularly cat people. The space is high on comfort, with a handsome bar, couches and booths for dining. It aims for a broad audience--smoking is prohibited and a kids' menu is available.
The Draw
The atmosphere is decidedly laid-back, something that sets it in stark contrast to its raucous neighbor, the Ballroom. The beer selection is sure to satisfy, and cocktails are stiff enough to grab your attention. Food is solid (the Three Pepper Burger is a winner), but some other items could stand to be more boldly spiced.

We go here weekly!.. for our dog... someone said.. there is a dog fight and shrimp wrapped with bacon is weird food? wow.. this guy hasn't been in any asian dish places and lives in seattle. . Food is great and isn't expensive. if five guys burger or kid valley charge almost 10 dollars for fries and a burger... u think at Norms? for 10 dollars buger is expensive?.. go to happy hr, all appetizer is 5 dollars! and wed, PBR 40oz for 3 bucks! can't beat that!, if dogs are fighting u just sat by really lousy stupid dog owners that trapped their dogs 12 hrs in little condo/townhouse...
Good Food, Great Beer, Fantastic Dog Friendly Place!

Norms is a great place to eat with your best friend. Even if your best friend isn't with you, I highly recommend it. I LOVE their chili and beer. Happy hour here rocks with $3 pints :-) Odly enough, the dogs seem to know they must be on their best behavior upon entering. What a great place!
No Place Like Norm's

The food is good not gourmet but good, the prices are reasonable, and you can bring your dog with you inside. Other places insist you sit outside (IN the WINTER?) with your pet, so they aren't all that pet friendly. We have been there a number of times and the dogs (contrary to "jimmy in Seattle") have always been much quieter than the owners; never a dog fight in sight. Norm's is always busy and noisy at peak meal times but it is from PEOPLE TALKING, like most pub environments. I think jimmy had a "bone" to pick with someone the day he went to Norm's. Too bad he took it out on Norm's instead of the real someone who "barked" at him:>
Best Bar Ever!

First visit was a few weeks after they first opened, the waitress was friendly with excellent service. The service has been fantastic ever since. The food is basic but tasty, and not over priced. The efficient and friendly staff make for good atmosphere, but add the dogs in and it makes for the best bar I have ever been in. Freemont is a wild busy and varied place, but even a crowd that may be down right unpleasant, is no problem with pooches around. Oh and at 50+ y.o. I have been to a well rounded variety of bars, and yes I stand by my assessment, Best Bar Ever!
We LOVE Norm's!

My husband and I visit Norm's regularly - and love the fact that this fun and lively pub is pet-friendly. It's surprising how well the dogs behave, with most laying under the tables or very closely to their owners. It's a great place to hang out with other dog lovers, the food is fantastic, the servers accommodating....thank goodness for this dog-friendly oasis!
Bring your Dog

In case the description isn't clear - you can bring your dog INTO Norm's. It's an awesome restaurant/bar with great food and all the leashed dogs are comfortable with each other. Very cool place. Friday's are extremely busy, though, and all the dogs sometimes get a little difficult to navigate around. Tip your waiters well - they have to deliver food around your pets!

Great spot to dine with your dog - good comfort food and nice to have a full bar available too. Gave it 4 because the service on my first and only visit was rather rude...maybe she was cranky due to having to listen to the World Cup vuvuzelas all day long (I would be) but that was the only downside of visiting this fun, unabashedly dog friendly spot. Will definitely return - and hope for better service!
Great Place if you love dogs, beer, and pub grub

We take our dog here fairly regularly. It's like hanging out in an above average dive bar with reasonably good to very good food.
Not sure where Jimmy went, but it doesn't sound like the Norms we go to eat. Ask the waitress what to order, they are usually good at steering you away from the not up to snuff selections depending on who is cooking. The doggy bowl is the daily special, sometime it rocks, sometimes it is better fed to the dog. Ask!
Yes, some dogs can get out of line, but the staff is pretty good, as are most owners, at keeping their pets under control. I've only seen one person told to leave since they wouldn't control their pet.
Good beer selection, reasonable pour on drinks too. The drinks are better for regulars. What's not to like about a 40 oz Pabst served in a brown paper bag?
Great food. Ok service

The food came out in a timely manner. Great presentation and delicious food. Norms had as really good atmosphere with comfortable seating. Being able to bring my dog into a resturaunt is a really great bonus.
Here's the bad. My keys fell out of my pocket when I went to pay the bill. I didn't realize till I got back to my truck in Tacoma since we carpooled. I tried calling and the lady on
the phone was swearing at me and telling me that she didn't have time to help mex swore some more then hung up on me. She did the same thing when
my friend tried calling. We were very nice to her till we got this treatment. I didn't know that this is how you treat paying customers who leave generous tips. All I wanted was to know if my keys were there. Thanks for the help b****.
why bother

it sounds like a good concept, but trust me it is not! The food is horrible. they have some really weird dish that involves bacon wrapped shrimp and bar cherries wrapped in bacon. wtf? also there is always the daily dog fight. so if you enjoy strange expensive food and loud barking dogs fighting all the time come on down you'll love it.
