Entry Requirements
Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Ecuador with your pet:
- Ecuador is a high risk country for rabies. Before receiving an import permit to return to the U.S., travelers must obtain 2 pictures of their pet's front teeth, a CDC Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Record, a serologic titer from an approved laboratory and a passport photo of the owner. Once these items are obtained, apply for a permit for your pet to return to the U.S. at this link. For further guidance on returning to the U.S. with your pet from a high risk country, contact the CDC directly at cdcanimalimports@cdc.gov
- Pets must have a current rabies vaccination administered between 21 days and 12 months prior to entry into the country, along with all other age-appropriate vaccines that includes a ticks and tapeworm test (or treatment) administered within 21 days prior to travel.
- Travelers must obtain a Veterinary Certificate for Ecuador completed by a certified veterinarian within 10 days of travel.
- There is a limit of two pets per visiting family
- Upon arrival, pets and documents are inspected and owners will be charged a fee of $26.17 USD for the movement of animals.
Quarantine Information
Pets being transported into Ecuador are not required to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above.
