    Great Off Leash Spot

Our two dogs had a great time! We made sure to not go through the 17 mile drives gates and there was parking right along side the trail. Our dogs loved being able to explore the trees/trails off leash. Everyone was really friendly too and was quiet on a Saturday morning! There are poison oak off the trails and the trails are a little difficult to follow but we just wandered ☺️

Poison oak!!! And you pay to get here

Use the address above and don't follow gps or it will take you through the gates ($11 toll). Once you get there / in, there was no map or names or trail markings to know where you're going (the trails are obvious, just not where they go). Also, tons of poison oak/ivy.

    Fun Off Leash Park

Wooded park with soft, mostly flat trails and plenty of underbrush for the dogs to run around in and sniff out all the good smells. Great adventure place for the dogs. Not super big but you can easily zig zag and loop around to get a couple of miles in. Other dogs and humans we’ve encountered all seemed friendly.

    Very dusty breathing hazard

This is a nice dog and people friendly park but i'm not a fan because it's a very very dusty park. The trails are composed of a very very fine dust instead of a hard packed dirt. This might seem minor to some people but i have a small yorkie and her nose and mouth are close to the ground and she breathes this stuff in. so, just a warning to those of you with small dogs you might want to skip this park if you're looking for a place to take long walks. i recommend going to the asilomar board walk just 1.0 mile away.

    Enchanting

I have enjoyed this path for many years as a frequent visitor, with children, without children, with dogs, without dogs. I have encountered many different people across this path, and they all seem to respect my time on the path with a friendly "good morning/afternoon" and a smile. Very enchanted place that truly leads to more spectacular views, some close to the ocean and some deeper into the forest path. I seem to discover something new each time. Just lovely.

So much better than a dog park

Lots of trees for a forest-like feel, though you're right in the middle of a suburban enclave. If you didn't hear the cars whizzing by or an occasional plane flying over you, you'd think you're in the Sierras. Lots of friendly dogs everywhere and space for them to run. The occasional downed tree made for great jumping and other agility exercises. Just be careful of your dogs eating the wild mushrooms. Saw a lot of giant, brightly-colored mushrooms that looked potentially dangerous.

    Open Space

This is a lovely place- and I have been going here for years. It's very open, quite, and leads you to many places that are really stunning. It's upsetting that dog-owners often find it strange that I do not bring a dog with me on these walks of mine. I'm not against dogs in any shape or form, and do not ask why they brought their dog to a place that is declared an "open space" not a "dog park."
