Taking your own private boat out to sea is the only way to enjoy the trip. We took our 3 year old Bordie Collie, and she loved staying with us rather than been home with a sitter. Everyone has said enough about this company, and I also recommend them. Some thoughts for the dogs in our lives. If the sea is rough, the boat will react, and even with pretty calm seas, at speed (necessary to cover distance) it does get a biy bouncy, especially up front. Just be sure you dog is OK with noise, wind, and a lot of movment, and occasional bangs. All very safe, and our dog has a life jacket just in case (Paws Aboard brand Amazon under $40). So as long as you don't have a nervous dog take them along and let them have fun as we all did. It's nice to see companies making it easy to take out pets along. Just make sure they use the loo before the 3+ hours trip at sea :)

If you want an absolutely amazing, memorable, whale watching experience, choose Chad with Sea Salt Charters. If you are humming over the fact that it is more expensive than the large boats it is well worth every extra penny! There are only six people on the boat, so you can chat with Chad and Cara about the whales. They are very knowledgeable about the whales and their behaviors. They can even tell you some of the whales names! Chad went out of his way to find the humpbacks for us and was as excited about seeing them as we were! They are certified Whale Sense meaning they truly respect the whales! I highly, highly recommend doing this trip if you are on Cape Cod!!! Sincerely, Jenni and family

We have been whale watching across the U.S. and Canada but never in our own backyard. We selected Sea Salt for a private charter so we could avoid the crowds and have plenty of room for the two of us and our Doberman. Little did we know how much we would enjoy this entire experience! Captain Chad is very knowledgeable of whale behaviors and the Cape Cod waters. His main goal throughout the trip is to give his guests a great whale experience and maneuver for best the viewpoint. Speaking of views, we observed a variety of whale behaviors including the exciting breach (see posted photos Private Whale Watch July 2012). Additionally, we were surprised to have an expert naturalist on our trip. Dr. Carole was a wealth of knowledge and an unexpected treat. “Kupala” is a very seaworthy vessel and handled the extra wind and waves that came our way that day. Sea Salt Charters does whale watching the “right way.” We thoroughly enjoyed every part of our trip and we will return again.
More than one year ago.The Best Whale Watching Trp Ever! More than one year ago.The Best Whale Watching Trp Ever!
I have been Whale Watching a lot in Cape Cod in the past, and have always had a great experience. This year we decided to try a private whale watch with SeaSalt Charters out of Provincetown. It was like nothing I could have imagined. Being so low down and have the whales swim by the boat , it was almost as if we were swimming with them. Since it was private, we had plenty of space to ourselves, no fighting for a good camera shot. Captain Avellar's knowledge of the whale behavior really shows, on more than one occasion it seemed like he knew what the whales were going to do before they did. If you are thinking about treating yourself to an extra special treat while on vacation in Cape Cod, you should definitely consider a private whale watch with SeaSalt Charters.

We go on at least one whale watch in Provincetown every summer, but our private whale watch on SeaSalt was the most amazing experience ever because we went on a smaller boat. Whales were jumping up all over the place and we were surrounded. Captain Avellar said we saw mostly humpbacks. The boat is bigger than I thought and I'm just a little bummed that I didn't bring my dog. He loves the water. Next time!
