    Highly recommended

My pug loves this beach. I used to live in the apartments within walking distance and would go here often. Its like disneylandfor my dog and we cant say the name "fort funston" aroun because he gets so excited he will start hyperventilating lol. It's a fun place to take your doggy

    Great For All Types

We’ve been coming here for years. We have a pug that doesn’t stray too far and a Boston that likes to wander. They love it. The climb back up can be a bit challenging (my husband usually has to carry the Boston towards the end) for small dogs, so take plenty of fresh water you and them.

    Fur Baby Fun

My guy had a great time. There were tons of other well behaved dogs to play with. The beach area is contained on either end by cliffs so I felt secure letting my 7-month old off leash.

    Our Dog's Favorite

We love Fort Funston! Our 65 lb lab can run and play for hours and it's truly off-leash, plus the beach is surrounded by hills with trails that she can run, and always be in sight. It's a Norther Cal beach on the Pacific Ocean, so bring a windbreaker and jacket every time, every season, no matter what you "think" the weather will be like, you'll probably need it!

    Awesome place

Anytime we are in California we stop at fort funston. Our dogs love it there. Hours of walking off leash is great for them and we enjoy watching them play on the beach too.

    Doggie Heaven on Earth

The best place to be if any for a dog! So many trails to choose from but all end up at the beach. It is off leashed so the dogs actually get along better. Best place to bring your dogs in NorCal. Bring a jacket and long pants because it is hard to find a warm day here. Also bring water for yourself and your pooch.

    An actual doggie beach!

This is a true doggie beach and if there are any people without dogs, they are sure dog lovers! To get to the beach is a little hike that can be taken through a trail or if you and your dog feel a little more adventures you can go through the hills which is really nice as well! There is lots of bushes and greenery that dogs love to explore! The beach itself is secluded and there are lots of dogs there. I'v noticed that this is a place where dog walkers tend to take their doggie clients and they are for the most part very well behaved! Also we came a cross a few horse riders they seemed to be ok around dogs, but make sure that your dog is not running close to them to avoid potential injury if they are not previously socialized with horses..
other than that it is a beach for dogs and not a beach where dogs are allowed! It is just wonderful!
