    Mixed reviews

I have mixed reviews on this park... Many times we've been here and there were none or only one dog. The water station doesn't work so bring your own water. The terrain is a mix of grass and sand, and in the back there are stickers which were stuck to my dog when he explored the park. There are some agility climbers and tunnels which can keep the dogs entertained. I have met some great owners and have also encountered owners who are unattentive. Not sure why, but out of all of the parks I have been to, I find that this park seems to have the most aggressive dogs. Could just be timing... Mixed reviews, my pup loves it, but jury still out on my opinion of this park..

    People disregard the rules.

I have no idea why this dog park has so many good reviews. The owners of the dogs in this place are in cliques that don't abide by the rules. This is a gated dog park that is small compared to the beautiful Freedom Barks in Medford. There are two places for your dogs to play. The smaller dog park and another for larger dogs. People disregard this and bring their tiny dogs into the larger one. My dog plays with all dogs but is not crazy for little dogs. A woman today let her tiny little dog go all up in my dogs butt and eventually my dog pinned her dog and started to go after it. I broke it up while she stood there with basically an attitude. My dog does not like small dogs for this reason but gets along with the smaller dogs at Freedom Barks because of the space and trails. If she gets a bad taste of a smaller dog she has plenty of room to get away and run the trails unlike Pennington. Why do people constantly go against the rules? I took my dog right out on my own out of respect while this woman stayed with her two dogs that were under 35lbs. Complete joke. Save yourself the trip-go to Medford.

Nice space in a lovely park

A friend just told me about Pennington Park's dog park recently, so I've only been there twice, in the large dog portion. It's roomy enough for the dog to have a good sprint, with a pavilion for shade, doggie playground structures (which didn't interest my dog) and a water fountain at ground level for the dogs' convenience. Since it's sandy, it drains well after a rain. It's nice that people leave bags for waste cleanup. I always bring my own. This is now our #1favorite free admission dog park. I would advise keeping an eye out for bees, although they haven't been a problem for us yet.

    Large fenced in space

2 large fenced in areas, one for larger and one for smaller dogs. Trails for walking with your pets and kids. There were sticker bushes before but I haven't seen them recently.
Pets and owners are generally friendly but you want to make sure you watch your pet when interacting with new dogs. We encountered only one issue in all our visits. An un-neutered male dog trying to aggressively "dominate" our spayed female dog. That didn't go over well but thankfully my dog was next to me waiting for me to throw the ball so I acted quickly.

    incident

The dogs and dogs owners are pretty nice and friendly. But the only issue I have is there is a dirt area around the pavilion which my dog loves to play in. Also I just had an incident last night. There are sticker bushes in the field dog park. I have a shih tzu poodle mix and he was running around with another dog and was covered with stickers on his paws and fur. Why will they be sticker bushes in a dog park?? If anybody know please give me some insight.
