    Great park to walk Murphy

Beautiful park with many places to walk the dog. Did not use off leash dog park but noticed it had small and large dog space with access to Lake Shelby. There were dogs using the park but we walked on leash. Nice, welcoming area with beautiful
scenery for walk with your dog.

    Best Park Around!

we loved the dog park at Lake Shelby. there were 2 large fenced in areas with water access. my girl had the best time swimming, running and chases birds. she made lots of new friends with the other dogs. I would suggest to wear sunscreen as there is not much shade, and bring treats to lure them back to you when you’re ready to go.
my only complaint is the dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs! please pick up the poop…it’s you’re responsibility to watch your dog and keep the park clean.

    Fun park

large play areas. the areas are divided by a fence. our doggy got into a chasing game and both ran into the water bed around the fence. they did come back but the openness into the water was not a deterrent at all. our doggy enjoyed playing in water as well.
the down side is he did get sand spurs in his paws so be sure to check and watch for “limping” there is also a water station but had no running water.
recommend towel if you pet likes the water

    Awesome dog park!!

Great Dog park!! Our boy loved playing in the water. I love the rinsing stations for when you were done. They also had some benches and fans for the pet parents to sit on. There was a water station for both of us if we needed it. Only down side was the fence in the water wasn't long enough. My adventurous boy tried to cross over that area.

    Big fenced dog park!

Nice park, access to the lake…sand spurs and snakes warning… :( We still enjoyed it!

Great park, good size. *not fully fenced*

A great option to let your pet family run and play. 2 sized areas make it easy to divide small and big, or timid and outgoing.
Plenty of shade in 1 side and a covered shady area with benches for pet parents.

The water is lovely and has a shallow area to walk out or for dogs to wade into.
There was a warning for alligators, we let out med and lg dog swim and enjoy but didnt ket them go out too far.

    **NOT FULLY FENCED**
The parks are divided by an area that is not fully fenced so dogs can fit under the fence. For a dog that escapes or runs away, maybe keep them on a long line or a training collar to keep them close.

There is a wash station for after and plenty of parking!

Great overall Park, not do great fenced dog park area

the park itself for camping, biking, walking is great. dogs must be leashed 6ft max. so the only off leash area is a fenced dog area by the creek. There are tons of sand spurs and gator and snake warnings. my dog doesn’t like the water, so the warnings were not a factor for us, but the sand spurs were a mess to get out of his paws and legs. Luckily he did not lay down in any sand spurs.

    Great park

This is a beautiful park and is very well kept. The dog pond was still under some construction when we were there and the grass was a little high around the water. They had covered areas finished and had watering stations for the dogs and their handlers and they even had water hoses so you could wash your dogs or their toys. Was a little muddy in places on the day we visited but it looks like it is going to be really beautiful and nice when completely finished. We went for a walk on one of the trails though didn't walk to much due to our shepherd being older and don't walk as well as he used to. Didn't see any alligators but did have some very beautiful views. Would definitely visit again.

    Great park

This was a little gem on our trip. Clean and well kept. Bring a towel if your dog likes the water. It'd been raining for a few days, so some of the park was a bit muddy, but wholly pleasant.

    Beautiful Park

Wonderful park, very well managed. Large amount of friendly dogs. Only downside is if the dogs can swim they are able to get a round the fence and into the small dog area or vice versa.

    Great spot for your pooch!

My girl had an amazing time at the new dog park! She loved swimming and playing with the other dogs. However; we did see three gators while we were there, one big and two smaller ones. The big guy swam off while the little ones came close the shore. The ranger spoke to myself and the other owners and said the little ones haven't learned to fear humans yet, so we needed to be aware of them. We still got a good 45 minutes of play before the gators came! I'm hoping the park will somehow deal with this problem without disrupting the natural wildlife. Regardless of the overgrown reptiles, I will be taking my doodle there again!

Great space for high energy dogs

Our lab had a great time. The park is big and fenced. Access to fresh water lake and a little beach. Not sure what to make out of the "Be aware of alligators" sign... I guess we got lucky and the gators were not around.

    great start

We have a Great Dane that loves the water. We are so happy that the state park is building this Dog Pond for us to enjoy. Large place to run and brackish water to swim in.

    start of a great park

This is the first time we visited this dog park. It is under construction. But it has excellent room for the dogs to play. I have an English mastiff and he loves it. Has the big play area and water access. Can't wait to see what the construction ends up at next year when we come back.
