Great hike - just shy of Mirror Lake

The number of paved trails where you can take Fido around the park is a little bit limited (note that you can’t take dogs on the hiking trails that are not paved). This hike is a paved path the whole way up & back, but just note that you can’t go all the way to the lake with your dog. The pavement ends about two minutes before they actually reach the lake.

if you can bring a friend or split your party up to wait with the dog while the other party goes the rest of the way to the lake, then you can see the Mirror.

    Beautiful but Short

Yosemite in general is stunning and Mirror Lake is no exception. To clarify with this particular “Hike” dogs are only allowed on the first mile which is the paved road up to the base of the lake. There is a sign at the lake saying no dogs, so it can be confusing as to where exactly dogs are allowed. If you’re planning on the full hike around the loop you’ll be disappointed. With that said, it didn’t appear enforced or followed as there were many dogs past the end of the paved road onto true hiking trails.

    Awesome trail

The trail is 2.5 miles from the Ahwahnee hotel, so it takes about an hour to get to the lake. It is so beautiful and the trail is fun, but not too difficult. My dog loves it!!

    Great stroll through the Valley

This hike is an easy hour stroll from the Yosemite Visitor center. Leashed dogs are allowed on this path, which passes a beautiful meadow, crosses over two bridges, and climbs over a river on its way to Mirror Lake. The Lake itself is dried up and the trail is off limits to dogs after that, but the hike is a great way to see some of the park with your pup. We also took our dogs down in the river to cool off.
