Spike's Desert Dog Park

Spike's Desert Dog Park is a fenced dog park in Needles, CA, that was proudly created by dedicated volunteers. It's very clean and has grass and trees, water, a large shelter, benches, waste bags, a barbecue, picnic table, and a fire hydrant water feature that can be controlled by a timer that people can operate. There's plenty of shade for both humans and canines and ample room for ball chasing and running around. Visit Website

    Good spot for a stretch/run

This is Needles, and it's in the summer, so it's a miracle that there's a dog park. We're so grateful that they take care of the grass. There's shade and a picnic table, and there's a hose and a water bucket. It's right next to the Days Inn and Suites, and we stayed there because they allow big dogs and some people gave it five stars as a place to stay. (Why they thought it was five stars is beyond me, but that's a separate review.) Anyway, we went about 8 at night and again at 6 in the morning. No one was there at night, but there were three local dog owners who regularly go in the morning, and they had sweet dogs for our GSD to play with before getting back on the road. The only thing that was disappointing is that the splash pad isn't working, and that would've been great in the 110+ degree heat.

    Night visit!

Road trip from CA. We needed a quick spot to run our RR after been in the car for a few hours. I was worried this might be locked at night, but to our pleasant surprise it was open! only one other dog showed up while we were there. The two light poles in the park were not on but there was enough light from the motel next door. Going on our favorites list for sure to stop by when passing through.

    Great Dog Park Near Hotels

We stopped for the night at Quality Inn with our 2 labs. The dog park was literally a 2 minute drive. It was an amazing grassy oasis for our boys to run around after being in the car all day. Even though it was 100 degrees out, it is a dry heat and not as bad as we had anticipated.

    An oasis

This park was a lifesaver on our drive in 109-degree weather. There was a shady pavilion, a big water bowl, and a large grassy area. Thank you, Needles residents, for this doggy oasis in the Mojave heat!

    Good park

Much appreciated dog park, stopped here with my German Shepherd. Okay size with mostly dirt, but had plenty of shade, seating and water.

1st Grass we have seen in a while...

Lots of parking, water on tap, big fenced area, right next to a big kids skate park, grass, shade and seating.
Maybe not the most beautiful area (behind some hotels) but the park is a very nice place to take a break and let your dog run on some grass. No dogs to join us but my little guy ran around like there was and then sat in the water that pooled by the spigot so he was happy.

just fine but hard to find

Pass the pool, turn left right after it then follow gravel road into it.
No dogs there when we stopped at noon on a January Friday, but a fine stop to stretch our legs and run the pup.

    an oasis in the desert!!

Beautiful dog park in the middle of sand & heat. Traveling cross country. This was a delightful stop for our dog with shade for her and us. 104 outside. This gave us a safe place for her to stretch her legs & potty! Thank you Needles!!

    Wow, what a find!

After being cooped up in the car during a long trip, my dog needed a good stretch and some fun. This was a gem
of a place, just as described. Kudos to the volunteers
    who made it!
