  Great beach!

  The beach is beautiful and very clean! Cost is $5 for entry, and there are hoses to wash your feet and dog off as well as water dishes at the bottom of the fountain. There are changing areas and clean bathrooms. The rules change throughout the year so check the website before you go.

  Beautiful beach

  I love that this place has a dog washing station (with a hose) as well as showers for people. There are also changing rooms, picnic tables (off the sand though), and restrooms.

  Great Dog Beach

  Read all of the rules and expectations required to bring your dog and have not had an issue. Found this place due to being kicked off of another beach in the Charleston area. We have not had any trouble at all and will continue to keep coming back! Highly recommend!

  Great Day at the Beach

  I wanted to take my dogs to the beach for the first time and found the Charleston area beaches the most dog-friendly, at least during the off season. They had a blast running along the beach and in the waves off-leash. Will definitely take them there again and inlive five hours away.

  Somewhat dog friendly

  This beach posts itself as dog friendly, but dogs aren’t allowed past a certain piping in the beach by the river. Be on the lookout for the tiny sign up by the dunes that marks the boundaries.

  Bailey and Arya’s days at the beach

  this was an unbelievable adventure. no leash before 10am and after 5pm. we went in the afternoon as the sand and air was a bit cooler. well worth the trip. will definitely go again.

  Great beach day

  Read all about the leash issues and local rules in advance, didn’t have a lick of trouble (since our young, over excited rescue is always on a leash outside of dog parks/our yard as is). Most other dogs were leashes, a couple of extremely well behaved golden retrievers were off leash but stayed right with their people and bothered no one. Less shells to discover than IOP, but much less crowded and nicer sand. Is a further trip to any restaurants/amenities, but they do have a snack bar and nice restrooms. All in all our favorite in the area so far and no issues with beach patrol (while we saw a few times in the back of the beach).

  Two 260$ tickets in ten mins

  Took our dogs for a nice afternoon at the beach. Got a ticket for not having dogs on leash while we were in the water. 5 mins later we had packed up and heading to the car and beach patrol drove up to us again and said they were writing us up again for not holding on to their leashes as we packed up our tent and chairs. The dogs stayed right by our side and nobody was within 100ft of us. Trust me, you don’t want to go here if you are going to bring your dog

  Whoa....not a friendly town

  Cold, winter like day, walking dog, no one on beach. Town of Kiawah Wildlife person up our rear as we walked in the water, not the dunes. I now know the rules, but what a major jerk. This town is trying to develop every inch for their rich folks. They make the public using the beach targets. One misstep and they will fine you. Their goal is to make Kiawah private like Seabrook.

  The Town of Kiawah changed the laws a couple years ago. Dogs only OFF leash during the winter. Leash on at all other times.

  Not Year Round

  Tried to go to Beachwalker County Park today (April 30). They said that we could not get in with our dog and that dogs were not allowed in during the summertime.

  AWESOME!

  This is our favorite place ever. Like previous poster mentioned, just past swim area is a HUGE off leash beach area. You will see a white sign on the dunes - BUT it is NOT off leash the whole way to the point like many people think. We found out the hard way when we got a warning ticket. Quite a ways down the beach you will see another white sign identifying the end of the off leash part. After that it's a bird sanctuary, so dogs are not allowed to the point on or off leash - although many, many people do, you might get ticketed. The second ticket is a $500 fine. That being said, even on the busiest days of the year, there's more then enough room to spread out and have your own area of off-leash dog beach. We've been trying to get there weekly!!!

  Off Leash

  Kiahwah's Beachwalker allows dogs off leash all day every day just outside of the swim area. You can walk the 1.5 miles to the tip and the whole area you are allowed to have your dog off leash. Your dog must be under "voice" control. It's AMAZING!

  Awesome Beach

  This beach has it all. A snack bar is located at the entrance, where you can also rent chairs and umbrellas. There are restrooms and changing stalls available when you come in. There are even mats leading out to the beach to help keep the sand a tad cooler as you head down toward the water. Outdoor showers are also available so everyone can get clean after a day in the sun and sand!
