The good stuff isn't dog friendly

Only a few trails are dog friendly and it's not the ones you want to see. If you're a local, it's fine, but it's not worth the parking price. I don't get why California hates dogs so much.

    Wonderful place for a hike.

We visited Henry Cowell Redwood State Park and it was beautiful. We took our Berner puppy on the Piperline Trail. We were disapointed that it it wasn't a trail surrounding the park, allowing a loop back to the parking lot. I hope they open up more trails for dogs on leashes as I felt it was a bit restrictive. Overall, a beautiful park. I would have liked to explore more trails but it only has two trails for dogs.

    Pipeline Trail Walk

Great place to take the pooch for a walk. the paved path is super long so you can keep going for as long as you like. some steep hills included. loved the early morning quiet too. lots of people were starting to walk when we were leaving at 10am.

    Camping

My dog had a good time camping in the quiet mountain spot. There are many trees in between spots so you get privacy. We did not get to hike much because most trails do not allow dogs (too narrow I think). Be sure to get the names of trails before arriving or from a ranger. There is NO cell service to search trail names once there. Camping area is separate entrance 1/2 mile down road. It got below freezing March 1st.

    Fun friendly hike!

Beautiful hike through the redwoods. The signs are a little confusing for which trails the dogs are allowed. Rule of thumb: stick to the paved trails. We saw tons of hikers with their dogs and everyone was super friendly. The hike was gorgeous and was pretty easy for new hikers or young/small dogs.

    Wonderful Park

I bring my dog for hikes and bike rides in Henry Cowell. We both love the park, however dogs must be on leash. I bring my dog to the park on a weekly basis. ❤️
