4 feet is fine for small dog area, but the big dog area needs to be at least 6 foot.. 7 might be better. My new pup could leap the fence without breaking a sweat!

I brought my two small 13 & 15 lb fixed female dogs here 3 times. Every time I left disappointed because of how much gray sand/dirt is there and how little grass there is. The last two times I went there, there was a couple who brought a young male dog that's not been fixed. The dog would not leave my girls alone and their owners just laughed while I was CONSTANTLY defending my dogs and getting their dog off of them. When I would go to help one of my dogs, it would run to the other. Both times my girls left panting, covered in dirt from rolling around to get this dog off of them (sparse grass here folks!). Disgusting. Haven't been back.

The Lake Hiawatha Preserve has a small and a large dog park area. Both have some shade, water spigot, benches, and a ledge for personal items. Owners bring balls, toys, and plastic kiddie pools and leave for others. The park rangers will contribute to the ball count!

This dog park is very convenient as I live only a few miles away. I've been taking my dog there for a few months now. It seemed to be fine most of the time and many of the dogs are friendly. Today however, I brought my dog in and two very large dogs, from two different owners, started ganging up on my dog. They were growling and biting him. (Not playful at all) Neither owner seemed that concerned. I had to take my dog out of the park. Later, as I was talking to a gentleman in the smaller park I was told that last week, a dog got a hold of a Great Dane by the neck and really hurt it! Yikes! If your dog is aggressive DON'T bring them to the dog park people! Follow the rules!

Great park. We've visited many parks in the USA and this is one of the better ones. Large area for all size dogs, shade trees, benches, doggie waste bags, dog water fountain, dog cleaning station with hose. Everything you need. Plenty of parking too. 2 paws up!

A good dog park needs more than just a fence, a hose and disposable bags. It is relatively small and lacks anything that would make it stand out from all the other fenced areas passing for dog parks in Lake County.

Beautiful area, and great facilities including water statuons, bemches, and dog bag stations. But the people that visit don't watch their dogs or follow the rules. I was there for about 15 minutes with my 2 dogs, and there were 2 large dogs that were not fixed, which caused a lot of issues. Dogs were nervous and testy whenever that dog tried to play, which is why it's a rule to not bring unaltered pets. Another dog attacked a dog right as it came in. Thankfully that owner kept the dog on a leash. Then the large unaltered male starting picking on my dog, the only other large male dog in the park. He wouldn't leave him alone so my dog eventually nipped at him. The owner didn't do anything. My dog NEVER nips or gets aggressive. I pulled my dog away and watched the unaltered dog move on to the next one. All this in 15 minutes. With better enforcement of rules, especially on weekends when it's busy, it would be a great park.
