    Sunset with the Pup

Knowing that dogs aren't allowed on the beach till after 6p during summer hours, we arrived around 6:15p and had a great time taking our dog for a walk in the waves. Great way to enjoy the sun going down and get some exercise after a day of traveling in the car.

    Not The Most Dog Friendly

My boyfriend and I loved going to folly. The beach was located in a great spot and kept clean. However when we brought our dog, we had paid for parking and 30 minutes later beach patrol told us to leave. Dogs are not allowed on the beach (even on a leash) between 10-6. Our dog was on a leash and sitting with us, the lady who collected our money to park didn’t tell us and we had to leave. Will not come back to this beach. Kiawah allows dogs all day as long as they are on a leash between 10-6.

    Folly Beach (Covid Era)

BEAUTIFUL BEACH! Plenty of parking. The Dogs loved it! Lots of shells and seagulls for the dogs to dig and chase at. Prime location close to tons of rentals, beach shops, and food:) 10/10

    Beachin’

Far drive for me, but it was worth it. Got there on a weekday around 4:30pm, and had a great walk with the dogs. Very beautiful scene, friendly people, and the occasional other dog. Definitely a plus that it’s free compared to other beaches who charge a dog permit.

Not one parking spot available-30mins of looking

We decided to drive over to folly Beach from my parents home in North Charleston on a random off-season day in late April, as the weather was warm. Packed up the car, drove the 1 hour I've only to find not one single parking spot after 30 minutes of driving around. I've travelled all over and have never seen anything like this before.

    Nice dog friendly beach

Beach was fine for walking with our dog. Disappointed that dogs are not allowed on the pier.

    Check time of year rules

We LOVED our time on Folly with our dog. We went in October, so he was welcome at any time. Tons of folks had dogs and we felt welcomed.

    Check the time.

This beach is great when dogs are allowed. The schedule is restricted and dogs aren't allowed off leash.

    Good place for pets

Lots of places to sniff and walk. Hours are limited for dogs on the beach so be sure to know before you go. The County Park which is located at the far right end of the island is a good place to start.

    Folly

I've grown up in Charleston and Folly is my favorite beach to take my dog to. It is laid-back and unpretentious. Many of the restaurants have patio or decks, so you can dine with your pet.
