    Perfect for water play

This beach was great for our two dogs! The dog specific area was just where others had said. Look for the observation deck and you’re there. The water had some mild waves when we went because it was windy out, but my Portuguese Water had no problem swimming. Our aussiedoodle isn’t much for the water, but he loved trying to chase the waves as they came in.
There is plenty of sand and the entry into the water is easy for the dogs and people.
Dogs can be off leash in the designated area.

    Convenient and beautiful beach

Nice and easy to get to just off downtown Manistee. North Beach is much larger but this was calm and not crowded and very easy to get to. Sandy and calm water

    Nice Beach

I loved our time at the dog beach. it couldn’t have been any better for my Airedale. Brilliant sunshine, warm shallow water, and no complaints from non dog lovers.

    Nice beach!

As previous posters said this beach is a little hard to locate the correct path but worth the effort! Do not follow the signs that say dog run, do drive into the large parking lot with the reddish orange roofed pavilions and go inside the break arms. Toward the left end is a boardwalk that has the dog rules but you can enter in other locations as long as it’s in the break arms. The beach is currently narrow due to high water and erosion (2020) But that should change in coming years. Worth the effort to find!

    Very Nice Beach

The dog friendly area is south of the river between two pier heads. We kept our dogs on leashes but had a lot of fun dipping in.

    Nice beach area!

There is a pretty large area of beach between the pier heads that is well marked as being dog friendly. This is a great spot with nice sand. The dogs and I loved it!

Yes.. Dogs can go on this beach.

As the description states, the dog beach is BETWEEN the pier heads. This means the inner pier head and the southern pierhead. People get confused as dogs are NOT allowed on the beach south of the outside southern pier head. There is a sign to help identify the dog area.

The area is fairly large and offers a lot of water for the dogs to play. Manistee has another dog beach called North Beach Access on Washington by the water tower.

    No Water Access

Went through this Park area and signs posted everywhere that said "No dogs on Beach" but a fenced-in area (maybe about a quarter of an acre) pretty rugged and rough looking like it hasn't really been kept up to well called a "dog run". Not really what I was expecting to allow our dog to go on the beach with us and test the waters. Not as dog friendly I would say.

Where is the "No Bone" rating???
Rating section should be more noticeable as to avoid giving a better rating than attempting

Dog's are not allowed on the beach

Here on vacation and thought this would be a nice beach to take the dogs but they are not allowed on the beach or on the river walk. There's a small fenced in area away from the beach that they are allowed in.

    Nice Beach

A small section of beach allows dogs year round. Kind of hard to find but worth the effort.
