    Metairie Cemetery is pet-friendly and one of the only cemeteries in New Orleans, LA, which allows dogs. Metairie Cemetery contains 9,000 tombs dating back to the 1800s and encompasses 127 acres which hold the graves of nine governors, 12 New Orleans mayors and six state Supreme Court justices. Leashed dogs are permitted on the cemetery grounds but must be cleaned up after. Visit Website

      We loved it

      This place is huge, had tons of things for the pooches to sniff while I took pictures. Tried to find the oldest date in the cemetery. Had a good time.

      Great Place For A Walk!

      This place is huge. We walked for over an hour and I maybe saw one other person. No charge. Just make sure to bring bags just in case because obviously it’s not made as a dog walking area.

      One Of The Few Cemeteries That Allows Dogs

      This is one of the few cemeteries in New Orleans that allows dogs. Plus, there’s no cost to visit, unlike the cemeteries in the French Quarter. It’s easily accessible, well kept and good for walking for jogging.

      Definitely worth a visit

      Visited on a nice, sunny day with our pup. We attempted to check into the office to offer a donation for letting us visit, but it was very busy with funeral activities. We walked around for over an hour even though we thought we wouldn't stay that long. What art we encountered. We spent so much time Googling names to learn about the people associated with the monuments as well. Sophie, our pup, sniffed to her heart's content. Please remember to clean up after your furbabe. We encountered several poo piles which is very disappointing.
