    Amazing dog park!

We frequently visit dog parks while traveling. My beagle loved it. There is plenty of area (over a mile) of off leash play. There are trees for shade and my dog loved them during this heat wave. 3 spigots for water but they were being worked on. Bring your water bottles! There is low growing shrub but plenty of dirt trails and benches. Such a great find not far off 25. loved it!!

    Wonderful Space…

it is a shame about its history but a wonderful way to keep it sacred and unscathed by development.
    A dog’s paradise

    Huge park

Many points for a HUGE dedicated dog space. There are dozens of paths that cross the space - up and down arroyos, traversing hillsides and along ridge lines. However, off-path has a lot of cactus and the trails themselves have an inordinate amount of broken glass. We came a week before a much needed community clean up. There was a fabulous water station for pups - ground height water fountains that also had bowls to fill up. On a Saturday, there were A LOT dogs but there is so much space that it never felt crowded.

Great stop on our road trip

We rented a place nearby and I went to Google to find a dog park. We were blown away by the freedom the dogs had, the easy parking and water access. Someone had even filled up two 25 gallon water containers at one side of the park where water access was nil. Plenty of poop bags and easy access to trash cans. The park had signs up for a cleanup day scheduled for just after our trip. If we had stayed longer I would have gladly helped to pick up this park. Friendly people too!

    AMAZING DOG PARK

Was visiting Santa Fe for the day and found this amazing dog park. It has acres and acres of trails and huge open spaces to run and play. No formal “fence” but it is so large, your dog won’t be in danger of cars or anything. Perfect to go off-leash! You could easily spend a few hours here.

Amazing park - and not the internment site

This dog park is the best kept secret in Santa Fe. Come here for a little joy, whether you have dogs or not, and have a nice walk within the park, then follow any of the trails that connect in behind it. Huge, with beautiful views of 4 different mountain ranges as well as downtown Santa Fe. Great for sunsets and firework watching.

Also, this is NOT the site of the WWII Japanese Internment Camp -- it is simply the home of the memorial marker. The camp itself, as the memorial stone clearly states (see picture below), was in the neighborhood below the park, to the east (Casa Solana). Repeat, the camp was not in the park, despite reviews here. So... your dog's karma will not be sullied.

    Excellent!

We have been to dog parks all over the country and this is by far my favorite. The people we met were friendly as were the dogs. Lots of room to run and play plus great views.

    Picturesque But...

Not much shade here, but nice views and lots of room to roam. The history of this site is sobering (Japanese internment camps).

    Incredible

The only downside I can think of is that it's not entirely fenced in, but it's so massive that you and your pup won't notice. Probably the best dog park I've ever visited. Miles and miles of trails and arroyos. Absolutely stunning views of town and the mountains. Just an incredible place. Your dog will love it.

    Our Morning Routine!

Every morning my dog sits and watches me get up and dressed because once that's done she knows, We're going to the Dog Park!! All I have to do is ask her, "do you want to go to the Dog Park?" She goes bonkers and runs to the door. The new signage that has been recently installed adds charm to an already special place! I have to hold myself back when I don't see an owner pick up after their pet:-(

This park is amazing! I wish all towns had such an awesome off leash park. My lab had a blast hiking and meeting new friends.

    Nice park

Large unfenced area with trails to walk your dogs leashed or unleashed. No real grass anywhere.

Park in the second dirt lot

First lot is difficult to access park and dogs don't have room to run round. Use the second parking lot for room to play and run around. Dogs and owners mostly wander this large open park, with dog meetings then move on. No gathering of lots of dogs for playtime. Dogs loved it!

    Freedom

Lots of space to roam, we could have gone on a walk seemingly forever. Definetly got what we wanted, which was to tire out my boxer and lab.
Beautiful views of the city which was only a 10 min drive at most.

    great park

Great place for an off leash walk not far from downtown. A little hard to tell where the off leash zone ends.

    Best Dog Park

With approximately 135 acres to hike with your furry four-leggeds, Frank S. Ortiz Park is one of the best I've ever seen. There are usually poop bags available throughout the entry of the park ad occasionally water for your pets. So many trails to walk/hike you'll never be bored. If you haven't been be sure to check it out!

    wow!

Best dog park I've ever been to! My dog and I are traveling from Illinois to California and this is our favorite spot by far! I would move to Santa Fe just to be near this place. Feels like you're hiking through the wilderness, lots of friendly dogs and owners to tag along with. Breathtaking views overlooking Santa Fe. Only tip is that there's no fence near the parking lot, so if your dog tends to stray, keep him on a leash until you get well into the park. I hope I can come back, my dog was in heaven!

beautiful views and great for dogs

I really liked this park because there were trails for dogs to run on and a "social" area for those dogs that like to ruckus and play with other dogs. There are also nice views for the humans to enjoy.

    Loved this place!

This place was great for our two Weims! Loved it!!! Lots of space where they could run free! Can get really hot here, so be careful of temperature. One place to get water (under north shelter house that is at west entrance); consider bringing your own. Not too many cacti, but be careful. Not fenced but the park is so big, doesn't border any big roads and our dogs have pretty good recall so it wasn't any issue. There was an arroyo running through the park, so the hiking was interesting for us too. At the entrance right on Camimo de Las Crucitas there is a sign that says dogs must be leashed but this is only for a small playground area right there on the left of the entrance. We found the west entrance to be better. Go west passed the entrance on Camimo de Las Crucitas maybe 1/8 mile and there is a gravel road going south that is the west entrance.

    unfenced

Mixed review, huge area but none of it fenced, quite a bit of poo , friendly folks but LOTS of dogs so only a good choice if your dog is well socialized and not going to run off

    tourist

I doubt the visitors and residents know the US Citizens of Japanese Ancestry were imprisoned here. Their Constitutional Rights were abgridged.
Sad ..dogs don't know what happened here, but sadly dog dropping cover up a sad period in US Government misdeeds.

    Wonderful Dog Park

The is a wonderful dog park with Santa Fe. We were staying in Santa Fe for a few days with our three fur babies and they loved being able to run around. The views are also beautiful.

    Love this place!

I just moved here, but had visited the dog park with my pups on visits. Now that we make SFe our home, we spend more time there and have been exploring the trails up into the hills. Really good!

    Ortiz Off-leash Dog Park

Awesome! Main reason to come to Santa Fe besides the art galleries, museums, Traders Joe's and restaurants. Hard pack and soft sand trails. Lots of scrub brush which sometimes is decorated. No supplied water or poop bags so bring your own. Best to walk in cool of the day in warmer months and vice versa in winter. Can be very windy but the views of mtns and Santa Fe make up for any blowing. Locals provide chairs and tables to enjoy relaxing with your furry friends. Bowls of water and grocery bags can be found supplied by local visitors. It's free and quite large, maybe 50+ acres and the local dogs and people are very friendly. Best dog park in NM.

A great place to take your dog to socialize, or on a short hike with nice views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
