    Nice park with friendly people

Lots of mud/algae on the beach in September. But so nice with a park that feels like it is intended for dog walks. just moved here and shocked by all the no pets and no dogs signs everywhere else!

Gardiner is the best dog park ever

Gardiner has dog run area, agility train area, trails , a path that will take you to the beach. It’s amazing. My Australian Shepherd and I go there every time we can.

    Best Park on the island

This place has it all! Trails, beach access, a new dog park for big dogs, one for little dogs AND and agility course! I just moved back from MN and have been so disappointed with Long Island dog parks. I remembered Gardiner and was so happy to see it got even better. Very clean too!

    Awesome Mini-Adventure!

This park was awesome! No entry fee, friendly park-goers, beautiful walk down to the bay, and nice beach area for the dog to explore (on-leash). The only issue is it was SUPER buggy, so be prepared. I plan to return this summer!

    Beautiful Spot!

It was worth taking a 2 hour train from NYC out to Gardiner to change the scene a bit. Tokala was so happy to be exploring the nature. The wet land can get muddy so don’t wear nice shoes and bring wipes for your dogs.
We had Tokala off leach the entire time although there are signs everywhere that says dogs must be on leash.

    We love Gardiner Park!

My dog loves this place! It is quiet and dog friendly. The main trail is very well maintained. Once you get to the bay, you have a beautiful view of the bridge and marsh life.

    Awesome place for adventures togethef

Absolutely love this place. You can walk the trails to the beach. Or do what me and The Stink do. We blaze our own trail through the trees. Lots of mud but to me thats the point. Highly recommend it

    favorite park!

My dog and I revisit this park time and time again. It's definitely our little happy place. Not for the faint of heart when it comes to mud and bugs, but beautiful scenic views of the bay make up for it!

    Nice Park

I took my cairn terrier here yesterday it was nice she loved it, the dog leashed can walk around the whole park. There are lots of trails to walk on and one leads right to the ocean. We had to walk through a little bit of puddles of water to get to the ocean but no big deal don't wear your brand new shoes to the park. But overall it was great my dog was nice and tired when we left.

wish I'd have skipped this place

Lots of bugs. I mean LOTS =/

We brought 3 experienced dogs, none of them liked any of the dogs we met there.

The beach is mucky & muddy. Dogs came back filthy -___- You can't really go in with the dogs cause the mud just sucks at your feet and you sink, feels like quicksand. Blick.

On the narrow muddy shoreline, the ocean in front of you, your back to a huge expanse of marshland.

Would hate to have to run after a dog through that! Even though our dogs stick close to us & have well practiced recalls, it still worried me a bit.

Dogs met there were kind of pushy, our dogs wanted nothing to do with them. Owners were also weird. Had a habit of waking up & just allowing the dogs to meet on leash (tight or no) without asking or even meeting eyes with human on the other end of the leash.

I always ask if the dogs can say hello & if given permission, allow meeting on a slack leash. If the dogs don't mesh, both parties continue on their way.

We went once, with no plans to ever visit this location again.

Most Dog Friendly Park on LI

I love this park. It's full of woods trails (with downed trees that my dog loves climbing.) They have a workout trail with exercise stations as well that you can run along with your dog. The beach at the end is my dog's favorite...it's a nice little spot for them to swim overlooking the bay and right across is the FI lighthouse. Very scenic. For a place full of so many dogs, it's surprisingly clean. I rarely see any poop left behind, and there are bags and garages throughout the park which help keep it as clean as it is. Overall, it's my favorite place to bring my dog to get some exercise...there is no closed off area for off-leash playing however, so it's not your typical "dog park."

    Multi-terrain adventure for your dog

I volunteer at a dog shelter and have brought one of the dogs out here multiple times. By the time we were done (maybe 2 hours), she was beat and fast asleep in the car. There's so much for a dog to do and explore. You have the huge lush meadow that begins right at the parking lot, and, which I've never even fully explored. Then you have the pond, also close to the entrance. Then, of course, there's the flat dirt trail to the beach surrounded by trees, which branches off to even more trails. As you get closer to the water, the trail becomes lined with marsh. Once you hit the water, there is some space for the dogs to walk, depending on the tide, but you definitely will get all muddy, which I suppose is part of the fun. A lot of people let their dogs off the leash into the water, which is against the Park's policy, but I've never seen any issues. Overall, this is definitely one place in Long Island that you have to check out if you have a dog.

Amenities include: a spacious parking lot, a gravel-lined playground for kids, a roofed picnic area that prohibits dogs, picnic tables where dogs are allowed, a pump where you and your pup can wash off, and a bathroom.

The best part is that it doesn't matter how old or in what type of physical condition your pooch is. Whether you're sitting in the grass under a tree or frolicking in the water, it's perfect for everyone.

Finally, A place where everyone welcomes you and your dog

It is beautiful here, I love the walk up the fairly short narrow trail, which is about maybe a half mile long. On your way up, you pass many dog owners, fathers with their children, fisherman and joggers. All were friendly when I was there and said hello. When you are almost at the end of the trail, you'll see the water. There is no beach sand area here, mostly marsh, so bring old clothing, your worst sneakers and a car cover and if you are taking your dog, well- you'd better expect him/her to be covered from head to toe with marsh mud. If you dare to walk and explore the marsh, I warn you, watch your step, you and your pooch will sink. Some area's are worse than others. Hey, you can't complain because there are not many places like these and you will enjoy yourself.
