5 stars for view, 3 stars for dog friendly

This review is not just for Jack Hyde Park, but for the walk north up to Les David Pier.
There is free parking in a number of narrow strip lots all along the way, as well as some larger lots next to the bigger restaurants. Parking can still be difficult (and traffic incredibly slow) on sunny summer days.
Gorgeous views of Commencement Bay and beyond, as well as the mountains on a clear day. It's a nice walk on a sidewalk along Ruston Way, which is a fairly busy two-lane road. There are rails in some areas where the sidewalk is very close to the road. The sidewalk is shared with bicyclists, skateboarders, and runners, so can get kinda crowded on nice days. Not a good place to walk a reactive dog at that time.

There are poop bag dispensers and garbage cans in various spots along the walk. There are lots of grassy areas along the sidewalk in between the restaurants and other buildings, as well as frequent access to small beaches where dogs can go into the water. It is on-leash access only though.

The reason I'd give it only three stars as a dog destination is that there is no fresh water access for dogs anywhere along the route unless a restaurant kindly puts out a dog bowl. Also, there are no restaurants that offer outside patio access where dogs are allowed, except Northern Fish and they do not have table service outside. So unless you are willing to leave your dog outside alone or you are with someone who can stay out there with him, you aren't getting any lunch there either. It's possible that there are some snack vendors at the pier during the summer though.
