Hitchcock Woods

Aiken, SC's Hitchcock Woods is one of the largest urban areas of forest in America and it's dog friendly. Bring Fido to this beautiful pine leaf forest with 65 miles of sandy trails to enjoy over 2100 acres. Nature lovers will be captivated by the huge variety of ecosystems on display throughout. Hitchcock Woods is also home to the rustic Aiken Horse Show in the spring, one of the oldest annual horse shows in the country. Although it is open to the public, the nonprofit organization that owns it, Hitchcock Woods Foundation, suggests passive use so that it maintains its natural beauty for generations to come. Our favorite place

Great place to take a walk or run. My dogs use to be able to be off leash but so many people found out that this is a great place to walk your dogs. One must be aware of the horses at all times, that’s why I stopped with off leash until the newest members of the crew understood that horses are not things to chase and not so easily distracted by other people and dogs.

    Amazing For Hiking!

Hitchcock woods is AMAZING. I take my Malinois with me many times for a long hike. It is a HUGE forest with trails and open spaces. Many locals bring their horses to ride on the trails, so you have to pay attention to that. But my boy and I love the woods!
