    Big space, but dusty

We used the dog area with our standard poodle. The nice part was that there were lots of dogs for him to play with but because there’s so much space, things can get a little wild. We saw a woman get knocked over by someone else’s dog while we were there.

    OK Location

we have been going here for years as it is the only large park in the area for large dogs. While it is quite large and has a water pump, small wading pools, and several benches, and many owners are very nice and responsible, there is no shade, it is gravel, it gets super hot, and there are several obnoxious owners who bring several dogs together who tend to be on the aggressive side and their owners don’t watch them as they should, ruining it for others. My dog was bit a year ago, requiring 9 staples. He didn’t react and merely walked away - I noticed it when I saw the saliva around the deep bite - so deep it wasn’t bleeding - and when I approached the dog’s owner, she hastily confirmed it was current on vaccines and ran out the gate with her dog. We take our dogs and usually stay if there are only a few dogs and on cool days and then leave when more arrive.

    Decent park

It's an okay park. Decent size, with a water pump and separate area for smaller dogs. The downsides are it lacks shade and it's all gravel instead of dirt.

    Warning ⚠️

Be careful when going to this dog park. I had an older man today choke my dog (1 year old) because she got nervous and hopped up on the bench next to him. He wouldn’t let go of her collar and told me “she needs to be taught a lesson and I need to buy a shock collar for her. Definitely won’t be going back after that experience.

    Great Place

I have a toy Australian shepherd who likes to run really fast. The small dog section is fantastic just for that– lots of owners paying close attention to their pups. It does get a little dusty on dry days and slightly muddy on wet days— they’re dogs and that is inevitable. Bring a towel in the car! The small dog section does not have a Spigot so bring your own water/bowl if you don’t like your pup to share from a water cooler thing.
    Love this place!

    Not a fan

Least favorite dog park. Large dog area is just dirty gravel. No shade. Nothing interesting for our pups. A lot of recent break ins into cars. Reston is such a beautiful place, wish they could build a gorgeous dog park for our babies.

    Great Dog Park

I've been taking my dog to Reston dog park for years. Love it there and never had a problem. There's two separate areas for small and big dogs. I use the small dog side. The people and dogs have been very friendly. There's several benches to sit on, some shade from trees, poop bags and trash cans and some water bowls. However there's no water fountain in the small dog side so bring your own. It's a nice small gravel surface. So nice for them to be off leash. Usually not too many dogs when I've gone. The big dog area is bigger and has more dogs playing and running around.

    Beware of inattentive owners!

A recent trip with my greyhound to Baron Cameron Dog Park turned into a very expensive outing due to the actions of one irresponsible dog owner that frequents this park. On 1/20/2018 my dog was attacked by a german shepherd named Freedom. As a responsible pet owner I had my greyhound in a basket muzzle, my usual practice at any dog park as this is recommended by greyhound experts. With no provocation and while standing quietly my dog was bitten on her side.

Two surgeries, nine trips to the vet, multiple dressing changes, and untold misery later I discovered that Freedom's owner (Sue Garrison) was unwilling to accept the full responsibility of owning a pet. Although the posted rules at the park clearly state "Handlers are responsible for any injuries caused by the dog(s) under their control," the owner stated that one should "expect something like this to happen when you go to a dog park" and refused to pay for all vet bills; she did say she would "pray for a full recovery" although that did not help financially. I finally gave up fighting for full reimbursement and as I recognized that this individual was not willing to do the right thing by reimbursing me for the damage inflicted by her dog. I was finally able to recoup about 40% of costs.

German Shepherd's are strong, capable, wonderful dogs; they should only be owned by people who are able to control them and be responsible for their actions. Because of the irresponsible actions of this pet owner I must warn others to visit with caution. The facilities are adequate with separate areas for large and small dogs. The pets are not the problem, the owners are.

    Bad owners

Most of the owners bring there dogs to play and don’t watch them! There lots of dog fight I’ve seen 3 when I was there for an hour because people where on the phone and not even looking at there dog. One dog was in the park with a cage muzzle on!! Will not go back not putting my dog in a bad situation. The park it’s self is nice and big.

    Great location

Been taking my two dogs here for several years now. It's pretty nice. Gravel lot (mulch gets muddy, gravel gets dusty), long space, two areas separated for large and small dogs. Plenty of benches, poo bags, trash cans, a few trees for shade and an event board. It's a great amenity for those in the neighborhood!
