    Grass currently while it lasts

Good size space - maybe 60x100 for small dogs and an even larger area for large dogs. Had not previously been here as it looked dusty. Dog beach is so close, but we stopped here finally. There is grass currently while it lasts until it's burnt out. About 1/3 shade on small dog side and less on large dog side. Water and restrooms. Free parking, but could use more parking spots. No issues with people or dogs.

    Great place!

brought our dogs to this park after being at fiesta island for only about 30 minutes because this park had a fence and more pups to play, very large so everyone has plenty room to run and potty. I didn’t notice a lot of feces left around but there’s a lot of tiny seashells in the sandy parts of the park so be careful with your feet and dog paws!

    Irresponsible pet owners

I found this park to be very dirty. Very few owners picked up after their dogs. It was truly disgusting. The area was big, but dusty. Little shade. A few picnic tables and old broken chairs. The people and dogs were nice.
    I will not go back.

    Could be great, but...

.... this a large space, plenty of area to run and play. However, it is not well maintained, a lot of inattentive owners, and long time visitors can be oddly territorial and rude. Great people come here too but I would say if you have large dogs, be very cautious of fearful dog owners.

    Dog Attack Likely

I took my dog for the first time when she was a puppy, and a dog arrived and attacked her viciously. I’ve heard from others that the dog is not friendly to puppies. The owner (it was actually a dog-sitter) should be more responsible and not bring a dog that is known to be aggressive to an off-leash dog park. Only giving one bone because of how spacious it is for a dog park.

Diana gives it five paws up.

Well, four paws and a tail.

We went to Dusty Rhodes for the first time yesterday. It had been about 15 years since I had gone there with my previous dog. (He didn't enjoy it, being on hyper alert the entire time and never playing but staying close to me so after six attempts I gave it up.) Diana love it. Really large fenced in area for her to run. She made friends very fast. Figured out the water fountain very fast. Had a great time and wore herself out in an hour. We are going to make this a weekly trip, same day, same time, so she can make some doggy friends. As parks go I'd say it was average to above average. There were some dirt areas and some grass areas, some nicely sized trees with chairs underneath for shade when needed, chairs and benches around the perimeter. Double gated and they have generous supplies of poop bags for those that forgot. I even met an employee with an ID badge who was patrolling the grounds and picking up unnoticed poop. There was plenty of parking the day and time we went. While the one way in and out is a bit awkward for getting back on the freeway, we just headed down towards Sports Arena and I got myself some lunch from the only remaining Arby's in the entire city. So we both got a treat today.

    Pretty disgusting

Visiting San Diego we dropped by this dog park early morning to take a break from getting sandy and wet at Dog Beach or Fiesta Island. While there is lots of space and some chairs at this dog park it was filthy with lots of dog poop left everywhere. Worst I have seen on a Bring Fido listed park.

    Spacious and convenient!

Our first when we arrived in California for the weekend trip and we took our 7lb Chihuahua here to use the bathroom (and there was a facility for the humans too). There was a good amount of dogs to play with and everyone was very nice, human and furry! Our dog even made a little friend!

    Fun in the Sun

We had lots of fun at this park. Both the pups and their owners were very friendly and welcoming. There was a good amount of grass (which I love) and the rest was dirt from being worn down. So much room to run and have fun meeting new friends. Can't wait to go back!!

    Dusty Rhodes Park Dog Park

The dog park at Dusty Rhodes Park has 2 large fenced in areas for us to play in. 1 for small dogs and 1 for large dogs like me. Both areas have shade trees, chairs, picnic tables, and a water fountain. The area is mostly grass, with areas that have been worn out.

We started coming here instead of Ocean Beach because my master did not like me getting wet and walking around in the wet sand. I was bringing sand and water into the motorcycle sidecar and home. Then he found the dog wash 2 blocks from the beach and after 2 baths I started to like going to Dusty Rhodes Park.

I hope that we keep coming back.
