    Nice, Big Park

this dog park was awesome. it was a little far off the freeway, but worth the detour! the park is a really good size. only downside is if you have a small dog I didn’t see a small dog park.

Stopped by while passing through Bakersfield.

This is a very large park that is open to all sizes of dogs. Our pup really enjoyed all the open space. There were two small kiddie pools with fresh hose water being pumped in that one dog at the park loved! We had to stop by two other dog parks that were tiny before we settled on this one, it was a great place for playtime before we hit the road again.

Nice park in a nice neighborhood

This seems to be a lovely park next to the playground and in a very lovely neighborhood. I'm just passing through I needed to get my dog some exercise. The other patrons were very friendly and the dogs all got along.

    Dogs Enjoyed Playtime

I have two small dogs and while visiting my parents decided to try this dog park. They seemed to enjoy themselves and while it is an "open" park all dogs seemed to be friendly. By 'open' I mean there is no segregation by size. owners seemed to for the most part watch and pickup after their fur babies. I would come again. Enjoy!

    Great place to play!

I've been taking my dog for several months and she loves it. I am what you would call a regular and though I sit with a group of really nice dog parents, and we visit, our dogs are always close and we pick up their poop -- we even pick up the poop of other dogs from time to time. These daily off leash times have given my dog much more confidence and she love to run and play with the other dogs. Yes, I have left once or twice when there has been an aggressive dog not being tended to by his or her owner, but I find when you are with a few other folks you all watch out for your dogs together.

    Really big park!

I really love taking my dog here, but I agree with some other people that the owners do not watch their dogs. I often see dogs pooping and their owners ignoring it. There is a pathway around the edge of the park that is about a quarter mile that I like to walk on while my dog plays, and the poop is usually not on the path.

One other note about the owners is that I have a small dog, and he always get bombarded by 2 or 3 large dogs at a time which is overwhelming for him. It always seems like the owners don't really care and that their bully dogs can do no wrong.

BUT I LOVE THIS PARK it is huge and despite a few annoying people almost everyone is really friendly and my dog has so much fun when he comes here. He gets excited whenever I mention the word "park".

    Irresponsible Owners

Large park, approximately a 1/4 mile on the walk path. Seems to be maintained regularly by the City with the exception of watering and maintaining the grassed area. The park is frequented by regulars in the morning and other regulars in the evening but they each posses the same attributes of irresponsibility. They huddle up in masses and don't watch their pets and most often do not pick-up after their dog(s), nor supervise them and I have seen on one occasion the same dog aggressively attack other dogs 6 different times before the dog owner could be located (way across the park not watching his dog) and this scenario is quite common. I have witnessed one time a dog attacking a girl while she was playing fetch with her own dog and she was bitten numerous times (breaking skin) before the owner could be located (again, way across the park not watching his dog). There is one fountain in the park where someone has kindly left, donated a large drinking bowl but there are those owners who allow their dogs to step in them or place their paws in them and this is how disease is readily transmitted such as Girardia. There is also another water spigot with a large tub and bucket that is often filled by owners for drinking water for the dogs but again, owners allow their dogs to jump in the water paws and all -- there is a lot of dog poop throughout the park and dogs step in this and then jump in the drinking water and once more, Girardia.
This would be a nice park if the owners would be more responsible and attentive to their animals and at least pick-up their dogs poop.

Girardia comes from fecal matter (not water)... its a parasite that dogs can get from being exposed to other dogs with it

    Hot and Poop

I witnessed dog owners talking and not observing while their dogs defecated; thus, there were many poops all over the place. Also, due to the predominant hot sun in Bako, this park should have some shade trees like other cities have. People here do not have the proper responsibility mindset that there is elsewhere. Let's step it up and pay attention!

    Poorly maintained

This dog park stinks and is not well maintained: there is always dog crap everywhere, the grass is always dry and the walking trail is narrow with a lot of holes. The city should take betttter care of this facility.

    flea-problem

Every time I bring my dog here, he comes home with a flea infestation. There are several " regulars " ( dog -owners) that forget that a dog park is for dogs, not for them. Other than that, this is a large, well-maintained park with plastic bags and trash cans dispersed throughout to dispose of your pets poop. If you don't mind a few snippity people that are afraid of any dog bread that is bigger than a poodle, you'll enjoy this park.

    Lovely dog park!

I love this park! We have taken our 11 month old Rottie here faithfully since he had all his shots. The only reason i gave it a 3 was because one week we didn't bring our own water and we allowed him to drink from the water provided and as a result he got giardia... this is a parasite that infects your small intestine and is extremely painful
It is a must that your bring your own water!

    Large Park

We take our 1 yr old Lab Mix for exercise. Clean and plenty of room for him to run with many dogs at all times of the day. He plays and runs while we walk the rim. At times the park is full with dogs and owners. Doggy bags and water available.

    Good - but wrong directions

Off leash area was nice and open. This directions on this bringfido site are wrong. Address is like 7501 kroll way I think.

    Great park for dogs!!

We love to bring our two full sized labs to this park. With plenty of room, I can't throw their ball all the way across the park. There are also plenty of other dogs playing which will give your dog a lot of time to socialize. Although it is a 'big' dog park, a lot of people still bring thri small dogs here too.
