    Nice Park

It was a little muddy in spots, but my puppy had a great time and people were nice.

    Rude.

Beautiful park but nasty people. I've been running with my dog of and on for months never been told anything by an authority. I don't visit the dog zone very much because my dog loves to get some wind rather than sit there with a poop infested area. I honestly didn't know no dogs weren't allowed on the trail till this older couple kept yelling no dogs.... 👎little do they know my dog is a service dog. Won't be returning for a while ❗

Be vigilant of broken gates, children, and butthole dogs

There are 2 gated areas. One park for dogs over 35 lbs, and one for dogs under 35lbs.

I have a big dog (90 lbs) so I'm reviewing the big dog side.

I've been going to this park off and on for the last 7 years with my 2 dogs. Most recently on 2/25/18.

    1. You cannot walk your dog anywhere in the park! You can walk your dog from the nearest parking lot, directly to the designated gated area and that's it! The moment you think about walking your dog anywhere else, you will be stopped by a park official. This is a huge problem for dog owners whose dogs get a little (OR A LOT) excited to go into the park. Excited dogs can easily find themselves in a dog fight the moment they enter the park, it's what dogs do when there's a pupper disrupting the vibe of the park.

    2. Kids, usually unattended by adults, make their way into the dog parks and will run across the park and climb on the equipment. Where are the park officials now? No where to be found.

    3. The water fountain is usually clogged, or broken, or VERY dirty.

    4. EVERY piece of agility equipment was broken.

    5. There's a pavilion RIGHT next to the dog park that has faucet near the ground for a hose. It is probably 15 feet from the dog park gate. I attempted to rinse off my dog after leaving the flooded muddy dog park and sure enough, the invisible park official showed up out of nowhere to scold me. Where were they when a squad of 10 children on scooters showed up to play on the dog equipment?

    6. This isnt really the park's fault, but more of an overall dog owner problem: If your dog isn't sociable with other dogs, THE DOG PARK ISN'T THE PLACE TO SOCIALIZE YOUR DOG. THAT'S HOW DOG FIGHTS HAPPEN. If your dog suddenly becomes THAT dog, just leave. I have had to leave when my dog just couldn't stop humping other dogs, and he's NEVER done that in the dog park before. It happens.

Overall: This park can do the job if there's only a few dogs around, and it's not muddy.

    Decent park, but has issues

Good size enclosures, but both of them flood horribly after a moderate rain. The agility courses are not well-maintained. My biggest issue is the gates. They are broken and could pose a danger to a dog who likes to bolt (like mine). Coupled with the fact that kids come in and play (unattended and without dogs) like it's a playground, I'm giving this park a low review. People seem to not be able to read the sign that clearly says "keep this gate closed." I had to grab onto my dog's collar more than once because some kids came running in and left both the inside and outside gates swinging open.

The bag dispensers are not always well stocked and there are bare patches of dirt that easily fill up with water (which I'm sure exacerbates the mosquito problem).

This park has a lot of potential, but a lot of issues as well.

    Great friendly park n people

Park was clean, grass was freshly cut lucky us. Residents at the park very friendly. It was our first time coming to this park our dogs seemed to have loved the park as they ran, played, and barked. Pretty cool place to bring your dog.....it was worth the 25 minute drive...

It was my first visit to this park and I wasn't impressed. I parked a ways away from the dog area and was scolded by the park attendant for walking my dog outside the designated areas- even though he was leashed and behaving well.

There are two dog areas 35+ and the other for small dogs,. There are several obstacles for agility training- which is why I took my dog there. But there are large muddy areas around some of the obstacles. The equipment is not well maintained and the ramp in the large dog area are becoming dangerously wobbly.

The other owners there were nice, though more into socializing with each other than minding their dogs. One female kept fighting with the others, I had to take my dog to the other side of the enclosure to avoid her. Finally her owner finally took her out. Another domineering sheppard came up and marked territory on the obstacles I was working with my dog on- the other owner never paid any attention. After repeated interruptions to our training, I had to leave.

I would recommend Homestead set aside a walking area so dogs can be calmly exercised before going into the enclosed areas. The dogs would be better behaved.

    update as of today 5/9/15

Been coming to this park since it opened and have seen a progressive wearing down on the space and no maintenance work being done in comparison to other parks in the Dade county area.

    Pros:

    POop Mittens
    Benches
    Agility course

The large dog side is really not large at all.
Water fountain doesn't drain (I have to use my hand to push out the drool pool)

Grass is not watered or treated so the green is wearing away

Clean park with nice features. Do not trust directions, they take you to high school. Continue on Palm to recreation area.

    Nice park

It is a very big space for the dogs, they have separate areas for both big and small dogs. There are a few agility obstacles in each section along with water fountains that have doggie fountains too. There are bag despisers on both sides, with bags in them :)
The outer most gate lock on the small dog side was not working properly, but is propped so it only opens inward. There isn't much shade if you go in the middle of the day, but they have some benches with shade umbrellas and a few young trees that will give more shade in the future.
Overall we had a great time! Would have got 5 bones if there was more shade and seating areas for the humans.

    Needs Work!

I live in Homestead and have frequently gone to the dog park (small dog). The Management for parks in Homestead should be ashamed because it is very unkept. There are weeds around all of the obstacles; missing grass; holes in ground; openings in the fence; very little shade; and just over all dirty. It is a shame because with some more trees, sitting areas, fixed grounds area, and fencing this could be a great place to bring your pet. I hope they fix it and start taking pride in the city of Homestead!

    Use common sense 02/28/15

I bring my two 80lb dogs here at least one a week so Im speaking strictly about the "big dogs" park and not the "small dogs" park. The park is a nice size, good for running around, but the fencing does have some small openings so if your dog does not listen and likes to escape, this will be a problem for you. The grass is patchy, leaving many areas with dirt exposed so after it rains it can be muddy and water can accumulate. If you dont mind your dog getting dirty, its not a problem, if you dont want a dirty dog, dont come. For the past month or so, the doggy water fountain has been out of order so bring your own water and bowl. 99% of the time there are poop bags so thats a plus. Kids are not allowed in the dog park, with good reason, and neither are puppies under 4 months, also with good reason. I usually dont have a problem with other dogs and their owners in the middle of the week, but on Saturdays and Sundays, the park can have up to 10-15 dogs so be weary if you have a shy, skiddish, or even dominant dog. Also note that you cannot walk your dog outside the park (which I personally think is ridiculous) so they must be inside the dog park at all times. Be smart about the dog park, if your dog is causing problems, please leave, if someone's dog is being a problem, please politely speak up so everyone can be safe.

    Dangerous!!

This part is NOT safe for your pets. I was only the small dog part so don't know about the other, there were big holes all over the fence. The fence the way it is built actually has a space from the beginning of the fence to the grass and my dog is small and escaped from there. The atmosphere was not great honestly, people did not follow the rules and big dogs were in the small dog section, kids were chasing the dogs. No rules at all, it's a free for all. Never going again.

One of the worst dog parks in miami

I brought my dog to this park about one week ago in April 2014. I thought this was a nice park with provided shade for humans, and plenty of room for dogs to play according to their weight. Everything I thought about this park turned out to be horrible once I found a TICK crawling on a water bottle on my night stand. My 16 pound dog was infested with ticks from adult sized ticks down to ticks so tiny you could barely see them. I pulled over 20 ticks off of my dog because of this park. And those are just the ticks I found on him. I found 3 times crawling around underneath of my mattress sheets. This was a total inconvenience being that I also have 2 indoor cats that I now had to wrestle to wash with tick shampoo. I will never in my life step foot into this dog park ever again.

Deserves 5 bones BAN THE KIDS!

Loved the park, no complaints to the physical construction, but had issues with aggressive dogs and belligerent mouthy kids. Don't you DARE talk to a grown up precocious kid telling me that its a dog park, so I should never mind their aggressive black pit bull mix with a shock collar on attacking my dog. NO, they are not "just playing" . It's off leash, not off the hook. People need to mind their mouthy disrespectful kids and aggressive dogs. One man couldnt control his dog walking into the dog park, then sat on a bench staring at his phone and ignoring his dog and the deposit the dog left.keep all kids under 15 OUT of the park and it gets 5 bones.

    THIS PARK IS TERRIBLE

I'm a local and this park is horrible, there are holes in the fence. My dog has gotten out numerous times and almost been hit by several cars. its dirty, trash everywhere. Theirs barely any grass mostly dirt, and rocks. the obstacle course is nasty and falling apart. The water fountain for the dogs is DISGUSTING! not only is it full of pee, but its slimy and the water doesn't go down. People trust me when i say this park Sucks. I HATE the fact that kids come into the park, the sign says it "No child under the age of 16 is allowed in the park without an ADULT or DOG. First off, why would you bring a child into a park without a dog? The dog park is full of pee, poop, and god knows what else. Why bring your child in there to play? You don't know the dogs and yet you bring your child in to play with the dogs especially the little dogs. My dog HATES kids and if any child tries to touch him, i assure you he will bite and at that point i don't say or do anything because you bring your child in there with the risk of being attacked. The dog park is FOR DOGS ONLY!! It's not a park for kids, if my dogs attacks a kid i will not do or say anything, and i dare the parents to do or say something, because the sign clearly states the rules and regulations of the Dog Park. Don't believe me? Go there for yourself and i'll most likely be there. 99.9% of the time i'm there with my dog and the locals. You'll know it's me cause my dog's name is Chico. Not only me but the other locals have complained about this park. But Roscoe doesn't care. Instead of fixing the holes in the fence, or obstacle course, water fountain and even the gate to come in and out of the park (which by the way the gate keeps falling off. I've had to fix the fence myself along with another local) Roscoe decides to put a STUPID FIRE HYDRANT in the park to encourage the dogs to only pee on the hydrant and not on everything else. Really?! A hydrant?! It's a dog park, Dogs are going to mark everything in the park. The holes are still there. all they did was take fencing from the kid park and attach it to the dog park fence, but who ever attached it didn't attach it right cause dogs are still getting out. If it wasn't because this park was close i can assure you NO ONE would go to that park. I've seen my fair share of good parks and bad parks, and Roscoe Warren is beyond bad. They just don't care about that park, they didn't put the well being of the dogs into consideration when they built this park.
If you want an Honest and Truthful Opinion? DON'T GO TO ROSCOE WARREN DOG PARK! ITS THE WORST PARK EVER BUILT!!

    Nice park

The park is nice and well maintained. There are 2 sides for over and under 35 lb dogs. Park includes obstacles as seen in the photos. The dog park is in a city park that offers other activities as well. It is located in a nice area and is very easy to find. More shade would be a nice addition and the trees in many years should provide that. My only issue is the small drinking fountain does not provide enough water for multiple dogs or very large breeds so bring your own if you can. In all a very nice well kept park.

    LOVING THIS PARK..

I LOVE THIS PARK, THERE ARE ONLY A FEW THINGS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. WE NEED SHADE INSIDE OF THE FENCE SOME KIND OF COVER WOULD BE NICE, THE KIDS HAVE IT OVER THERE PLAY GROUND SO WE SHOULD HAVE ONE OVER OURS. AND PLEASE IF YOU HAVE A DOG THAT DOES NOT GET ALONG WITH OTHERS PLEASE DONT BRING THEM.. I AGREE WITH NO KIDS ALLOWED INSIDE THE FENCE DOGS RUN AND KNOCK SMALLER KIDS DOWN, AND THERE ALWAYS CLIMBING ON THE DOGS OBSTACULES EVEN THOU ITS SAYS NOT TOO, AND ALSO IT NEEDS SOMEKIND OF WATER SOURCE INSIDE OTHER THEN A WATER FOUNTAIN.

    Good Job Mark the Employee

All dog parks have their issues . CHILDREN DO NOT BELONG IN DOG PARKS! Have you ever seen a child with 100+ stitches in there face from a dog attack. it happens that is why there are parks for children and parks for dogs.

    Great Park!

This is a more convenient park than the other one in Homestead. Its very spacious. Plenty of room for big and small dogs to run and play. The only thing that you need to watch out for is the fencing. It needs to be repaired. There are a couple openings in the bigger dogs area.

In reference to the mud situation, its because the water fountain is there and you will find that at almost every dog park. If you don't like mud, don't take your dog to the park. As for the minimum, that's because its not a huge park and you need room for other dogs. My suggestion is not to take them on the weekends. Its very busy there on Saturdays and Sundays.

    AVOID ROSCOE WARREN!!!

This is a terribly built dog park...! Spaces for both small and large dogs floods incessantly creating a pools of mud. The City of Homestead chooses to "fix" the problem by distributing pockets of sand.
The chain-link fence is not properly tied into the ground, creating gaps where the dogs may escape.
Today, a Park and Rec employee asked me to leave for having my 2 yr old daughter in the park. According to the employee, Mark, you cannot have a maximum of three dogs with you and a small child while at the park.
Called the Park and Rec office to file a formal complaint and I ended up being transferred to who I am assuming is the Mayor of Homestead, last name Bateman. The most inefficient of all people.
No wonder the City of Homestead is notorious for being mis-managed and labeled an undesirable place to reside.
